H Shankar, currently serving as Director (Technical) in the Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), has been appointed as the company’s Managing Director. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (01.04.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas to appoint Mr Shankar to the post till the date of his superannuation, i.e. March 31, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Notably, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) conducted interviews on January 31, 2025, with seven candidates before recommending Shankar’s name to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for the position.
