Gujarat government clears promotions of IPS officers to DGP rank

The Gujarat government has finally cleared the promotions of IPS officers of 1986 and 1987 batches. The departmental promotion committee headed by chief secretary Anil Mukim on Tuesday approved the promotion of the officers to the DGP (director general of police) rank.

The lone exception is Satish Verma (a 1986-batch IPS officer) who is currently inspector general of police, CRPF, in Tamil Nadu.

Those who have been cleared for promotions are Keshav Kumar, special director, Anti-Corruption Bureau; and Vinod Mall, additional DGP, police reforms, both from the 1986 batch. From the 1987 batch, Sanjay Srivastava, additional DGP, CID crime; and Kamal Kumar Ojha, additional DGP, prevention of crime against SC/ST, have been promoted.
