The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday transferred incumbent Goa Director General of Police Jaspal Singh (IPS:1996:AGMUT) from Goa to Delhi. He is replaced by Alok Kumar (IPS:1996:AGMUT) as the new DGP of Goa.
This development follows an inquiry ordered by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant after the demolition of a house in North Goa’s Assagao last month. A report by a policeman from the Anjuna police station in North Goa, submitted to the Chief Secretary of Goa, claimed that DGP Jaspal Singh “pressurised” his subordinates to allow the demolition of the house.
Notably, Alok Kumar was repatriated from central deputation just one day earlier, on July 11, where he was serving as Inspector General (IG) in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
