The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) on Friday (02.05.2025) recommended Sanjay Joshi for the position of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Oriental Insurance Company Limited (OICL). Joshi is currently serving as General Manager at United India Insurance Company.
The recommendation comes after FSIB evaluated five candidates, assessing their performance, overall experience, and alignment with established criteria.
The CMD position became vacant following the retirement of RR Singh, who superannuated in February 2025. In the interim, the government had appointed Executive Director Amit Misra as acting CMD for a period of three months beginning March 1, 2025.
Joshi, who brings over 30 years of experience in the general insurance sector, has held several key positions including branch and divisional head across various regional offices. He has also served in the Large Corporate Cell (LCC) in Delhi, worked as Deputy General Manager at the company’s head office, and acted as Chief Grievance Officer.
