Former chief secretary Yash Pal Singh (Retd.IAS:1984:TR) has succeeded in getting bail from the special court of West Tripura district and sessions court. The bail was granted after the investigating officer failed to submit the charge sheet within the stipulated time of 90 days.
Yashpal Singh’s name was among three in an FIR, filed on October 13 last year, the other two being former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury and former PWD chief engineer Sunil Bhowmik.
Singh was arrested on February 17 from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh under Sections 409/201/120(B) of the IPC, and Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The trio was grilled by the crime branch on February 21 in NCC police station with the documents and statement made by each.
Earlier, both Choudhury and Bhowmik also got bail, after spending 87 days in judicial custody. The police have yet to file a chargesheet in the case even after four months.
