Former IAS officer Vinay Sheel Oberai passes away

Vinay Sheel Oberai (IAS:1979:AM), former Secretary of Higher Education in the Ministery of Human Resources Development, passed away on Friday.

The 63-year old retired officer underwent a liver transplant last month. He suffered a stroke on wednesday, while recovering from the liver transplant operation.

Oberoi’s other stints included a tenure as secretary in the Women and Child Development Ministry, and later as India’s ambassador and permanent representative at UNESCO.
