An FIR under the Disaster Management Act has been lodged against IAS officer Kannan Gopinath (IAS:2012:AGMUT), for refusing to re-join duty during the corona pandemic, as directed by the government.
Gopinathan was posted as secretary, power in the Union territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, when he resigned in August, following the scrapping of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by Modi government.
His resignation was not accepted and on April 9 the administration asked him to join duty.
Gopinathan refused to join duty, but offered to work during coronavirus pandemic as a common citizen.
