In the wake of Faceless Accessment Scheme by Modi government and the growing restlessness in India’s Income Tax cadre about its impact on their careers and prospects, the Indian Revenue Service Association has suggested several measures to CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes). This is done with an aim of a successful implementation of Faceless Assessment Scheme.
The highlights of the list of suggested measures are, redrafting of transfer and placement policies for IRS officers, strengthening the cadre restructuring, rebranding of IRS, robust deputation policy and creation of encadred posts in other ministries and government departments. This report, put forward by the IRS association further gives an expression to the widespread concerns and advocates an urgent redressal to ensure the relevance and sustainability of the IRS as a service and an upliftment in the profile of the service in the annals of government.
