The central government has been busy identifying a suitable head for the DRDO as the incumbent chairman, Dr. Samir V. Kamath, is set to retire on May 31 after nearly three years in office.
According to reports, the screening committee has suggested the names of three very senior scientists from within the DRDO:
- Dr. BK Das, Director General, Electronics & Communication Systems
- Suma Varughese, Director General, Micro Electronic Devices, Computational Systems, and Cyber Systems
- Ummalaneni Raja Babu, Director General, Missiles and Strategic Systems
Das is the most senior among them, and many believe that his chances of becoming chairman of DRDO are higher.
