New Delhi, May 22, 2025: The central government has extended the tenure of Dr M Ravichandran as Secretary in the Ministry of Earth Sciences by one year. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his extension beyond the age of superannuation, from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Dr Ravichandran has been serving as Secretary since October 9, 2021. Prior to this, he was Director of the National Centre for Ocean and Polar Research in Goa, under the same ministry.
