Dr G P Samanta is appointed as Chief Statistician of India

Dr G P Samanta, on Wednesday, appointed as the new Chief Statistician of India (CSI)-cum-Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) initially for a period of two years. He is presently serving as an advisor in the RBI’s Department of Statistics and Information Management.

Samanta will replace Kshatrapati Shivaji (IAS:1986:MH), who was holding the additional charge as MoSPI Secretary in September last year after the tenure of Pravin Srivastava ended on August 31, 2020.
