Dr Anju Rathi Rana (ILS) was on Wednesday (05.03.2025) appointed as the next Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs under Ministry of Law and Justice for two years. Currently, she is serving as Additional Secretary in the same department.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (05.03.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Ms. Rana to the post for two year or until further order, whichever is earlier.
She succeeds Rajiv Mani, who currently holds the position and oversees legal advisory work for multiple ministries and departments of the Government of India.
Dr Rana has been in her current role as Additional Secretary since February 2022 and has represented India in international forums, including the BRICS Ministers of Justice Meeting. She has also addressed issues related to legal reforms and the representation of women in the judiciary.
