Defence Secretary Aramane Giridhar (IAS:1988:AP) was on Thursday (23.02.2023) given an extension in service till October next year. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the service extension of Mr. Giridhar beyond his age of superannuation. He was due to retire in June this year after completing 60 years of superannuation.
As per the notification, Giridhar will remain in his post until October 31, 2024 or till furtrher order whichever is earlier. He took over as the defence secretary on November 1 last year.
