D Gautam Sawang (IPS: 1986:AP) was on Tuesday appointed Director General of Police (Head of Police Force) of Andhra Pradesh with immediate effect. The state government chose Sawang as the regular DGP (HoPF) based on the recommendation made by the Empanelment Committee of Union Public Service Commission.
Sawang will be in service till July, 2023. He has been holding charge as state DGP since May 30 when the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government assumed power.
