The central government on Monday told the states to strictly enforce lockdown that was announced yesterday for 80 districts in the country. The states have been asked to take strict action against the violators. This warning came after the Prime Minister, in a tweet this morning, observed that some people are not taking the lockdown seriously.
There is a complete lockdown in 80 districts across country-including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru- where only essential services are being allowed. All modes of public transport including Railways, metros and inter-state buses have been stopped.
All shops, offices, malls, cinemas, restaurants, pubs etc. have been shut and only those selling essential food items and medicines are allowed to do business.
Section 144 has been imposed in many states, which bans assembly of more than 4 persons.
