Senior IRSS officer Lakhpat Singh Choudhary (IRSS:1997), who is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Coal, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (January 12, 2026), the competent authority has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Coal for the premature repatriation of Choudhary on personal grounds.
Lakhpat Singh Choudhary has been serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Coal since March 21, 2025. He was appointed to the post for a tenure extending up to his superannuation on December 31, 2029. However, the central deputation tenure has now been curtailed, and he will return to his parent cadre ahead of schedule.
