Like the Centre, state governments are also re-engaging retired favourite officers for important assignments that serve political interests and grip administration. As one such move, the Chhattisgarh government engaged retired IPS officer D M Awasthi (Retd.IPS:1986:CG) as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Raipur police headquarters to oversee the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) and Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). His retirement was effective March 31, 2023, but he was immediately appointed OSD on a contractual basis.
