With the present Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary, R.P.Mandal (IAS:1987:CG) due for retirement in November, and uncertainty looming large over centre’s nod for state government’s proposed six months extension to him,
speculations are rife in the power corridors of Raipur and New Delhi on the name of the new Chief Secretary. Our reliable sources in the state bureaucracy inform that, Senior Bureaucrat Amitabh Jain (IAS:1989:CG) can be the new CS of Chhattisgarh and an official announcement to this effect can be made shortly before the 1 st of December, when present Chief Secretary R.P.Mandal, who is due for retirement.
Amitabh Jain is presently Additional Chief Secretary in Finance and Water Resources department. The speculations about him and his name doing the rounds for the new Chief Secretary are much on expected lines as he has a good track record and is known for his integrity, sincerity and dedication. He is a popular choice of the power corridors of Chhattisgarh and known for his proximity with Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel. His presence in all important meetings with the CM , even before an official announcement of his name is a clear indication of his readiness for the top job. Once appointed, he is slotted to be the Chief Secretary for around 5 years, till his retirement in June 2025, unless he opts for VRS, reveal our sources in Chhattisgarh Administration.
