The Chandigarh administration has forwarded to the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) the name of Vijay Namdeorao Zade (IAS:2002:PB) for the post of new finance secretary in the UT administration.
This exercise to appoint a new officer becomes necessary as the three-year deputation period of present finance secretary A K Sinha gets over in August-end.
The front runner for this post, Vijay Namdeorao Zade is presently serving as Secretary, Expenditure, department of Finance, Punjab. Two other officers, whose names are forwarded for this post are , Kumar Rahul (IAS:2000:PB), currently secretary, health & family welfare; and Arun Sekhri (IAS:2004:PB), at present posted as secretary, home affairs, justice & jails.
Our sources reveal that though, 2000 batch IAS officer Kumar Rahul is the senior most officer on the panel and a front-runner for the post, UT administrator V P Singh Badnore recommended 2002 batch IAS Officer, Vijay Namdeorao Zade’s name for the coveted post of Finance Secretary, the third-most important post in the UT administration after the posts of adviser and home secretary, and , is reserved for the Punjab cadre IAS Officers.
