Chairman CBIC presides over Passing Out Ceremony of 72nd Batch of IRS (C&IT) Officers

The 72nd Batch of IRS(C&IT) completed their induction training on Friday at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Faridabad. A total of 33 officers are part of the 72nd batch, which includes 7 lady officers.

The 72nd Batch of IRS(C&IT) completed their induction training on Friday at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Faridabad. A total of 33 officers are part of the 72nd batch, which includes 7 lady officers. The young officers will be responsible for administering customs and indirect taxes in the country.

Vivek Johri, Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), presided over at the Passing-Out Parade, 2023 and also delivered the keynote address on the occasion.

In his keynote address, Johri urged young officers to maintain a balance between facilitation and enforcement. He also talked about adapting technology to make life easier for taxpayers as well. The officers were reminded to remember their role as public servants, to be accessible to the public, and to be the change they wish to see.

CBIC Chairman congratulated the 72nd Batch for successfully completing their training and also acknowledged the contribution of the families of the officers for shaping them into well-rounded individuals.

In her welcome address earlier, the Principal Director General of NACIN, Neeta Lall Butalia, emphasized the significance of hard work and maintaining a good work ethic in professional life. She reminded the officers that their association with NACIN hasn’t come to an end but would continue till the end of their service.

In his address, Member (Admin) Alok Shukla urged officers to apply themselves enthusiastically to their assigned tasks and stay motivated.

Keeping the spirit of Amrit Kaal, which marks the beginning of a 25-year-long lead-up to India@100, these young officers are well-trained to be futuristic and inclusive. During the passing out ceremony, the following five officer trainees who have excelled in different areas of training were awarded medals for their exceptional achievements.

  1. Ms. Maninderjit Kaur received the Finance Minister’s Gold Medal.
  2. Ms. Rashmi Shakrawal received the Chairman’s Gold Medal
  3. Mr. Prashant Sharma won the Shri N.K. Upadhyay Memorial Gold Medal
  4. Ms. Rashmi Shakrawal won the Smt. Kaushalya NArayanan Memorial Gold Medal
  5. Mr. Abhishek Kumar Singh won the Director General’s Gold Medal.
