Centre extends temporary upgradation of key bureaucratic posts

ACC approves extension of temporary upgradation for five senior bureaucratic posts across ministries, ensuring leadership continuity.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Monday (August 11, 2025) approved the extension in temporary upgradation of five senior bureaucratic posts across various ministries and departments.

According to the official order, the following officers will continue to hold upgraded positions for extended terms:

  1. Sriram Taranikanti (IAS:1992:TR)– Extension as Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, upgraded from Additional Secretary to Secretary level, until July 31, 2026.
  2. Shashi Ranjan Kumar (IAS:1992:TR) – Extension as Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, upgraded from Additional Secretary to Secretary level, until September 3, 2026.
  3. Shri Sanjay Rastogi (IAS:1991:OR) – Extension as Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, upgraded to Additional Secretary level, until August 11, 2026.
  4. Shri Nitishwar Kumar (IAS:1996:UP) – Extension as Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Women & Child Development, upgraded to Additional Secretary level, until September 30, 2026.
  5. Shri Amitesh Kumar Sinha (IRAS:97) – Extension as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, upgraded to Additional Secretary level, until August 9, 2026.
