The central deputation tenure of Lalit Jain (IAS:2011:HP) as Director of Census Operations (DCO) and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR), Haryana, has been extended till December 6, 2028.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (January 29, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of Lalit Jain’s deputation for a further period beyond December 6, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Lalit Jain has been serving in the post since December 6, 2023. His initial tenure was scheduled to end on December 31, 2025, which was later extended till December 6, 2026. With the latest approval, his deputation will now continue for another two years, up to December 6, 2028.
