Centre extends deputation of IAS officer Darpan Jain as Joint Secretary, Commerce

The Centre has extended the central deputation of IAS officer Darpan Jain as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce for one year beyond February 2026.

The central deputation tenure of IAS officer Darpan Jain (IAS:2001:KN), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce, has been extended by one year.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (January 29, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Department of Commerce to extend Jain’s deputation tenure for a further period of one year beyond February 19, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Darpan Jain has been serving in the Department of Commerce since February 19, 2019. He was initially appointed for a five-year tenure, which was subsequently extended by two years in February 2024, taking his term up to February 2026. With the latest approval, his central deputation will now continue for another year.
