The Modi government on Monday (19.06.2023) promoted six IPS officers, working as Additional Directors in the Intelligence Bureau as Special Director while six others have been elevated as Special DGs.
All these officers belong to various cadres of the 1989 and 1990 batches. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved these appointments following the proposals received from the Union home ministry.
Under this reshuffle, Safi Ahsan Rizvi (IPS:1989:UD) was appointed as Special Director against the existing vacancy whereas five were appointed (in-situ) as Special Director namely; Rahul Rashgotra (IPS: 1989:AM), Vivek Srivastava (IPS:1989:GJ), T V Ravichandran (IPS:1990:TN), Rajiv Ranjan Verma (IPS:1990:UP) and Harinath Mishra (IPS:1990:KL).
Similarly, PV Ramasashtry (IPS:1989:UP), and YB Khurania (IPS:1990:OD) have been promoted as Special Director General against the existing vacancies. They are presently posted as Additional DGs in the BSF.
Daljit Singh Chaudhary (IPS:1989:UP), and SS Chaturvedi (IPS:1990:TR) have been promoted to the post of Special Director General in the CRPF against vacancies. Currently, they are posted as Additional DG in the CRPF.
The ACC has also approved two grants of “in situ” promotion due to the non-availability of sanctioned posts. The officers are Nina Singh (IPS:1989:RJ) and AM Kulkarni (IPS:1990:MH) as Special DG in CISF and NIA respectively.
However, Mr Kulkarni has been appointed as Special Director General in the NIA on in situ basis by temporarily upgrading the post held by the officer from the date of assumption of charge of the post up to January 31, 2024, or the date of his superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently posted as the Additional DG in the NIA.
