In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, Modi government has cleared the appointment of over 16 officers to the post of Joint Secretary in various ministries and departments.
The names of the officers and their postings are as follows:
- Ms Varsha Joshi (IAS:1995:AGMUT) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandary of Dairying, from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, for a tenure of five years or until further orders, vice Mihir Kumar Singh (IAS:1993:BH).
- Anupam Mishra (IES:1995) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs for a tenure of five years vice Amit Mehta (IOFS:1987). His appointment as Joint Secretary, DMEO, NITI Aayog (order dated 29.05.2020) is cancelled.
- Keshav Chandra (IAS:1995:AGMUT) has been appointed as Director, Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for an overall tenure of five years up to 17.12.2022. Chandra will replace Amardeep Singh Bhatia (IAS:1993:NL).
- Rakesh Mittal (IDES:1995) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Defence for a tenure of five years vice M Subbarayan (CSS) consequent on his voluntary retirement from service.
- Sajjan S Yadav (IAS:1995:AGMUT) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Expenditure, on a lateral shift basis for an overall tenure of five years up to 19.08.2022. Presently he is working as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women & Child Development.
- Ms Pallavi Agarwal (IRS-IT:1991) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women & Child Development for a tenure of five years vice Sajjan S Yadav (IAS:1995:AGMUT). Her previous appointment as Member Secretary, National Monuments Authority, Ministry of Culture (dated 29.05.2020) was cancelled.
- Ms Aparna S. Sharma (CSS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Fertilizers for a tenure of five years vice Ms Gurveen Sidhu (IA&AS:1995).
- Amit Mehta (IOFS:1987) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry
on a lateral shift basis for an overall tenure of five years up to 07.01.2023 vice Purushottam Tiwary (IA&AS:1996). Presently, he is working as Joint Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs. - Saurav Ray (IDES:1994) has been appointed as Custodian of Enemy Property for India (CEPI) (JS level) O/O CEPI under the Ministry of Home Affairs for a tenure of five years by upgrading the post from DS/Director level to JS level.
- Ms Parama Sen (IA&AS:1994) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Investment & Public Asset Management (DIPAM) for a tenure of five years vice Ms. Anuradha Thakur (IAS:1994:HP).
- Sudhir Kumar (IAS:1999:AGMUT) has been appointed as Additional Secretary (JS level),
Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) for a combined tenure of seven years up to l6.03.2022.
He replaces Ms Archana Varma (IAS:1995:AM) by treating the post akin to Non-CSS. - Ms P Amudha (IAS:1994:TN) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in Prime Minister’s Office,
on a lateral shift basis, for the balance period of her five-year central deputation period. Presently, she is serving as Professor, LBSNAA, Mussoorie. - Ms Nidhi Pandey (IIS:1991) has been appointed as Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) under the Department of School Education & Literacy for a tenure of five years vice Santosh Kumar Mall (IAS:1997:BH).
- Vinayak Garg (IRSEE:1995) has been appointed as Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti
under the Department of School Education & Literacy for a combined tenure of seven years upto 11.09.2023. He replaces Biswajit Kumar Singh (IFS:1989:JK). - Nitishwar Kumar (IAS:1996:UP) has been appointed as Member Secretary, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) under the Department of School Education & Literacy, on a
lateral shift basis for a combined tenure of seven years up to 10.07.2021. He replaces Sanjay Awasthi (IRS IT:1989). Presently, Nitishwar Kumar is working as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation. - Sanjay Awasthi (IRS-IT:1989) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation for an overall tenure of five years upto 22.05.2021. He replaces Nitishwar Kumar (IAS:1996:UP).
