The tenure of IPS officer Ashok Kumar (IPS:2006:HP) as Director in the Department of Justice has been curtailed. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (01.04.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal to curtailed the tenure of Mr Kumar under central staffing scheme.
Kumar had been serving in the Department of Justice since November 2019. Initially appointed as Deputy Secretary for a four-year term until November 26, 2023, he was granted a one-year extension until November 26, 2024. Before this extension expired, he received an additional six-month extension until May 26, 2025. However, his tenure has now been curtailed before completion.
Notably, the DoPT order does not specify his next assignment or whether he will remain at the Centre or be repatriated to his parent cadre.
