The central government on Monday (07.08,2023) made a significant announcement regarding the promotion of the Indian Police Service (IPS) officers posted in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In a notable move, Sampat Meena (IPS:1994:JH) was promoted to the position of Additional Director within CBI. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an order stating that Ms. Meena’s appointment to the post is contingent upon the availability of a vacancy. Her tenure in this new role is set for a combined period of seven years, up until September 21, 2024, or until further directives are issued, whichever comes earlier. It is noteworthy that Sampat Meena had been serving as a Joint Director at the CBI prior to this significant elevation.
In a parallel development, another accomplished IPS officer, Supriya Patil Yadav (IPS: 2004: MH), also received a promotion. She has been appointed as Joint Director at the CBI. According to the order issued, Ms. Yadav’s appointment to this role is effective from the date she assumes charge for the approved tenure of eight years, culminating on April 17, 2024. It is worth mentioning that Supriya Patil Yadav had previously held the position of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) within the CBI.
