ACC approves extension of upgraded posts

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has granted approval for the extension of temporary upgradation of the following posts:

  1. The post of Secretary, National Commission for Safai Karmcharis (NCSK) will be upgraded from the level of Joint Secretary to that of Additional Secretary. This position is presently held by Ram K Khandelwal (IAS:1989:BH) and the upgradation will be in effect until 24.03.2024.
  2. The post of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways will be upgraded to the level of Additional Secretary. This position is currently held by Amit Kumar Ghosh (IAS:1994:UP), and the upgradation will be valid until 10.08.2024.

16 IAS officers empanelled for Additional Secretary or equivalent posts in GoI

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Saturday cleared the empanelment of sixteen Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials belonging to 1987, 1996, 1997 and 1998 batches for their appointments as Additional Secretary/Additional Secretary Equivalent level posts in the Government of India.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued the empanelment list on September 16.

B Kasiviswanathan appointed Chairperson, Cochin Port Authority

B. Kasiviswanathan (IRSME:1992) has been designated as the Chairperson (JS level) of the Cochin Port Authority in Cochin. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday, September 15, 2023, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has granted its approval for Mr. Kasiviswanathan’s appointment. His tenure in this position begins on the date he takes charge and extends until his superannuation on July 31, 2026, or until further instructions are issued, whichever occurs earlier. Mr. Kasiviswanathan will take over from M. Beena (IAS: 1999: KL) in this role.

P Sivakumar appointed Member Secretary, Central Silk Board, Bengaluru

P. Sivakumar (IFoS:2000:AM) has been designated as the Member Secretary (JS level) of the Central Silk Board in Bengaluru, with a term of five years. As per an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday, September 15, 2023, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its approval for Mr. Sivakumar’s appointment. His tenure commences from the date he assumes office and extends for five years or until further directives are issued, whichever occurs earlier. Mr. Sivakumar will succeed Ranjit Ranjan Okhandiar (IOFS: 1987) in this role.

Alex V F Paul Menon appointed Development Commissioner, MEPZ SEZ, Chennai

Alex VF Paul Menon V (IAS:2006:CG), who was serving as the Joint Development Commissioner at MEPZ SEZ, Chennai, has been appointed as the Development Commissioner (JS level) for MEPZ SEZ in Chennai, under the Department of Commerce. According to an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday, September 15, 2023, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has granted approval for Mr. Menon’s appointment, effective from his date of assuming office. He is appointed for a total tenure of five years, which will conclude on March 22, 2027, or until further directives are issued. Mr. Menon will succeed MKS Sundaram (IAS: 1997: UP) in this role.

Deen Bandhu Singh appointed Development Commissioner, Falta SEZ, Kolkata

Deen Bandhu Singh (CSS) has been named as the Development Commissioner (JS level) for the Falta Special Economic Zone in Kolkata, under the Department of Commerce. An order from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday, September 15, 2023, stated that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has sanctioned Mr. Singh’s appointment to the position, effective from the date he assumes office. His tenure extends until his superannuation on December 31, 2027, or until further directives are issued. Deen Bandhu Singh is set to take over the role from BK Panda (IOFS:1988).

Govindarajan Appakkannu appointed as CVO, NLC India

Govindarajan Appakkannu (IPoS:2000) has been designated as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) for the NLC India (NLCIL), Neyveli, which falls under the Ministry of Coal. J&K: IPS Sheema Nabi Qasba relieved to join IB as Assitant Director

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday relieved Sheema Nabi Qasba (IPS:2016:AGMUT) from her current role as Superintendent of Police, Handwara, for her induction as Assistant Director (SP Level) in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on a deputation basis for five years.In the interim, Yougal Kumar Manhas, Superintendent of Police, Kupwara, has been designated to assume the additional responsibilities of the Superintendent of Police, Handwara, alongside his existing duties, until further directives are issued.

“Consequent upon the approval of the Competent Authority for the induction of Ms. Sheema Nabi Qasba, IPS (AGMUT: 2016), Superintendent of Police, Handwara, as Assistant Director (SP Level) in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on a deputation basis, for a period of five years from the date of assuming charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier, the officer is relieved from the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, to enable her to take up the new assignment,” reads a government order.
