Former IAS officer Sudhanshu Pandey takes oath as Ladakh’s first state election commissioner

Former IAS officer Sudhanshu Pandey (Retd.IAS:1987:J&K) was sworn in as the first State Election Commissioner of Ladakh, a Union Territory, on Saturday. The oath of office was administered by Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (retired) B D Mishra at the Raj Niwas in Ladakh.

Sudhanshu Pandey, who retired last year from his position as Union Secretary in the Department of Food and Public Distribution, has been appointed as the Election Commissioner responsible for overseeing elections in multiple Union Territories, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Lakshadweep.

Bihar: BSEB Chairman Anand Kishore gets three years extension

IAS officer Anand Kishore (IAS:1996:BH) will continue serving as the Chairman of the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) for an additional three years, starting from September 25, 2023. Additionally, he will also hold the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Bihar Board of Open Schooling & Examinations (BBOSE) in Patna. He has been entrusted with financial authority for BBOSE. The General Administration Department issued this notification on a recent Friday.

Anand Kishore’s initial tenure was set to conclude on September 24, 2023, but the Bihar government has granted him a three-year extension. He assumed his role on September 23, 2020, during a period of significant challenges within the Bihar Examination Board. Notably, his appointment marked the first time an IAS officer was appointed as the Chairman of the Bihar School Examination Board.

Karnataka: Five IPS officers shifted, CB Vedamurthy posted as SP, Intelligence

The Karnataka government on Friday issued orders for the postings of four IPS officers and also changed the post of an officer who was under the process of transfer.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows:

  1. Sudheer Kumar Reddy (IPS:2010:KN) has been posted as Superintendent of Police (SP), Forest Cell, Criminal Investigation Department.
  2. CB Vedamurthy (IPS) has been posted as SP, Intelligence.
  3. Hakay Akshay Machhindra (IPS:2015:KN) has been posted as Deputy Commandant General, Home Guards & Ex-officio Deputy Director of Civil Defence.
  4. Kshama Mishra (IPS:2016:KN) has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Command Centre, Bengaluru.
  5. Ravindra Kashinath Gadadi (IPS:2017:KN), under the orders of transfer as SP, Intelligence, has been revoked and instead posted as SP, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, Bengaluru.

Ramaswamy Narayanan appointed as CMD, GIC-RE

Ramaswamy Narayanan has been appointed as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re). The appointment has been made by the central government, as indicated in an order issued by the Department of Financial Services (DFS). Mr. Narayanan’s tenure will be effective from the date he assumes office, which is on or after October 1, 2023, and will continue until he reaches the age of superannuation on September 30, 2025, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.

At present, Ramaswamy Narayanan holds the position of General Manager at GIC-RE.

Mizoram: Retired IPS officer John Neihlaia appointed Chief Information Commissioner

The Mizoram government on Thursday (21.09.2023) announced the appointment of retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer John Neihlaia as the State Chief Information Commissioner for the Mizoram State Information Commission. John Neihlaia commenced his career in the Mizoram Police as Deputy SP in 1986 and retired from service in July of this year. Throughout his career, he held various significant positions in Mizoram, Delhi, and Arunachal Pradesh. In recognition of his exemplary service, John Neihlaia was honored with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2019 and the DGP’s Commendation Disc in the same year.

In addition to this appointment, the Mizoram Government also named retired Indian Information Service (IIS) officer Mangjangam Touthang as the State Information Commissioner within the Mizoram State Information Commission, as per an official order. Mr. Touthang’s career spanned across various media units under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, and he served in diverse capacities in Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Delhi. He contributed to organizations such as the erstwhile DAVP, PIB, DFP, AIR, and Doordarshan. Mr. Touthang retired from his role as Director (News) at DDK, Aizawl, in February of this year.

Kamlesh Chandra Varshney takes charge as SEBI Whole Time Member

Kamlesh Chandra Varshney was appointed as Whole Time Member at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in Mumbai on Wednesday. Prior to this role, he served as the Joint Secretary for Tax Policy and Legislation within the Department of Revenue, Government of India.

In his new position, Varshney will be responsible for various departments, including the Market Intermediaries Regulation and Supervision Department, Legal Affairs Department-LAD1, Integrated Surveillance Department, Information Technology Department, Recovery & Refund Department, and the Special Enforcement Cell.

Arunachal Pradesh: Former CS J Suresh Babu appointed VC of Rajiv Gandhi University

J Suresh Babu (Retd.IAS:1986:MN), the former Manipur chief secretary, has been selected by President Droupadi Murmu to serve as the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), which is the sole central university in Arunachal Pradesh. His appointment to this esteemed role is for a duration of 5 years, effective immediately. Babu’s illustrious career culminated with his retirement as Manipur chief secretary, marking 34 years of dedicated service as an IAS officer.

Babu brings with him a wealth of experience in delivering remarkable public services, primarily in the states of Manipur and Andhra Pradesh. Over the course of his career, he has occupied numerous pivotal positions within the government, including Manipur chief secretary, additional chief secretary, principal secretary, commissioner, secretary, director of various directorates in Manipur, as well as serving as a collector and district magistrate, among others.

Delhi: 15 IAS officers shifted, MK Gupta gets charge of DUSIB and SRDC

The Delhi government on Thursday (21.09.2023) initiated a reshuffle in its administrative framework by issuing transfer and posting directives affecting 15 IAS officers. This is the first major bureaucratic reshuffle after the enactment of the GNCTD (Amendment) Act, 2023.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows:

R K Tyagi selected as CMD of Power Grid Corporation of India

R K Tyagi has been selected for appointment as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on September 21, 2023. Presently, he is serving as Director (Operations), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.

He will be appointed to the post of CMD after receiving vigilance clearances and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Nipun Pande appointed as JDC, O/o Development Commissioner (Handlooms)

Nipun Pande (IRSEE: 2011), who was recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Textiles, has been selected for appointment as Joint Development Commissioner (JDC) (Deputy Secretary level) in the O/o Development Commissioner (Handlooms) under the Ministry of Textiles for a duration of four years. In accordance with an official directive released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday, September 21, 2023, the central government has granted its approval for Mr. Pande’s appointment to this role. This appointment spans four years from the date he assumes office, or until further directives are issued, whichever occurs earlier.
