IRS Amar Singh appointed as PS to Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav

Kshitij Jain (IRS-C&IT:2011) has been appointed as the Private Secretary to Bhupender Yadav, who holds the portfolios of Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Labour & Employment in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change. This appointment follows the curtailment of his tenure as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (20.11.2023), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Mr. Jain to the post at the level of Deputy Secretary with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post for a period of upto 20.09.2025 (i.e. for balance tenure of four years or on co-terminus basis with the Ministry or till he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Ministry or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Professor Wangchuk Dorjee Negi appointed as VC of Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies

Professor Wangchuk Dorjee Negi, currently serving as the Professor of Mool Shastra at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS) in Sarnath, has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of CIHTS for a term of five years. The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, as per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

According to the order, Professor Negi’s appointment is on a short-term contract basis. His tenure will commence from the date he assumes charge of the position and will extend either until he reaches the age of 70 years or until further orders are issued, depending on whichever event occurs earliest.

Govt appoints Vinay M Tonse as MD of SBI for two years

The central government on Tuesday (20.11.2023) appointed Vinay M Tonse as the Managing Director (MD) of the State Bank of India (SBI). His appointment is effective from the date he assumes office and will continue until his superannuation on November 30, 2025, or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier. Currently serving as the Deputy Managing Director of the bank, Tonse’s promotion to the senior post at SBI was recommended by the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) in September.

“The Central Government appoints Vinay M Tonse, Deputy Managing Director (DMD), State Bank of India (SBI) as Managing Director (MD) in SBI with effect from the date of assumption of office and up to the date of his superannuation (i.e. 30.11.2025), or until further orders, whichever is earlier.” SBI said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Tuesday.

The vacancy for the MD position at SBI arose in June following the appointment of Swaminathan Janakiraman as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank. It’s noteworthy that the State Bank of India is managed by four managing directors and one chairman.

Punjab: 3 Police Commissioners, 7 SSPs among 31 police officers shifted

The Punjab government on Monday (20.11.2023) transferred 21 IPS and 10 PPS officers, including three commissioners and seven senior superintendents of police (SSPs), with immediate effect on Monday.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows :

  1. B Chandra Sekhar (IPS:1994:PB), available for posting, has been posted as posted as ADGP, Modernization, Chandigarh.
  2. Praveen Kumar Sinha (IPS:1994:PB), ADGP, Cyber Crime, SAS Nagar with additional charge of ADGP, NRI, SAS Nagar, has been transferred and posted as ADGP NRI, SAS Nagar.
  3. Neeraja Voruvuru (IPS:1994:PB), available for posting, has been posted as ADGP, Cyber Crime, SAS Nagar.
  4. Naunihal Singh (IPS:1997:PB), Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, has been transferred and he will report to DGP Punjab. His posting orders will be issued separately.

ACC clears appointment of six CVOs

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Monday (20.11.2022) granted approval for the appointment of Chief Vigilance Officers (CVOs) in five Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and the Central Public Works Department. The appointed individuals and their respective assignments are as follows:

  1. Deepa Chawla (IRAS:1998) has been appointed as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), Delhi, for an initial tenure of three years.
  2. Ritu Pande (ITS:1997) has been appointed as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of National Building Construction Corporation Ltd. (NBCC), Delhi, for an initial period of three years.
  3. Sanjeev Sehgal (IRSEE:1997) has been designated as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the Central Public Works Department, Delhi, for an initial tenure of three years.
  4. Satyanarain Gupta (ITS:1993) has been appointed as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), Delhi, for an initial period of three years.
  5. Ravindra Prasad (ITS:1997) has been designated as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Northern Coalfields Ltd. (NCL), Singrauli, for an initial tenure of three years.

Ms. Jacintha Lazarus (IAS:2005:MN) has been appointed as the Executive Director (South) at the Joint Secretary level in the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Chennai. Parama Sen appointed as Additional Secretary, Department of Expenditure

Ms. Parama Sen (IA&AS:1994) has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Expenditure for an overall tenure of five years until August 2, 2025. As per an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has sanctioned Ms. Sen’s appointment to the position for an overall duration of five years until August 2, 2025, involving the temporary elevation of one Joint Secretary level post of the Department to the Additional Secretary level. Ms. Sen will assume the role, succeeding Ms. Annie George Mathew (IA&AS:1988).
