Delhi: 25 IPS, 2 DANIPS officers shifted

The Ministry of Home Affairs has executed a substantial restructuring within the Delhi Police, involving the transfer of senior IPS officers and a couple of DANIPS officers.

The name of the officers and their postings are as follows:

  1. Dependra Pathak (IPS:1990: AGMUT), Special CP/Law and Order has been transferred and posted as Special CP, Security.
  2. Rajender Pal Upadhayay (IPS: 1991: AGMUT), Special CP, Perception Management & Media Cell Division & Ops. with additional charge of Special CP, Licensing & Legal Division, has been transferred and posted as Special CP, Special Cell.
  3. Virender Singh (IPS: 1991: AGMUT), Special CP, Traffic, has been transferred and posted as Special CP, Licensing (Addl Charge of Legal Division).
  4. Ravindra Singh Yadav (IPS: 1995: AGMUT), Special CP, Crime, has been transferred and posted as Special CP, Law & Order Division (Zone-I).
  5. Madhup Kumar Tiwari (IPS: 1995: AGMUT), Special CP, Protective Security Division, has been transferred and posted as Special CP, Law & Order Division (Zone-II).
  6. Shalini Singh (IPS: 1996: AGMUT), Special CP, Law & Order, has been transferred and posted as Special CP, Crime.

Sanjay Kundu moves to SC again following Himachal HC’s rejection to recall its order

Sanjay Kundu (IPS:1989:HP) has once again approached the Supreme Court after the Himachal Pradesh High Court dismissed his application seeking the recall of its order instructing the state government to transfer him from the position of the state Director-General of Police (DGP).

The Himachal Pradesh High Court, on December 26, 2023, directed the government to reassign Kundu and Kangra Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri (IPS:2012:HP) from their respective posts to ensure an impartial investigation into a complaint filed by Palampur-based businessman Nishant Sharma regarding a threat to his life.

This directive was temporarily halted by the Supreme Court on January 3. The apex court observed that the High Court was scheduled to reconsider the matter on January 4 and suggested that Kundu could submit an application to the High Court requesting the recall of the December 26 order. Kundu pursued this course, but the High Court rejected his petition on January 9.

Dr. Vidhu P Nair appointed as next Ambassador to Angola

Dr. Vidhu P. Nair (IFS:2002) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Angola. Presently, he is serving as Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

Raveesh Kumar appointed as next Ambassador to Czech Republic

Raveesh Kumar (IFS:1995) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Czech Republic. Presently, he is serving as Ambassador of India to Finland and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

Three IAS and One IRS Officer repatriated to parent cadre

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has recently granted approval to the proposal for repatriating four distinguished officers, currently holding crucial positions at the center, back to their respective parent cadres. Among them, three are IAS officers, and one is an IRS-IT officer.

The officers and their current assignments are as follows:

  1. Sanjay Bandopadhyay (IAS:1988:MP), serving as Chairman, Inland Waterways Authority of India, Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways.
  2. Alok (IAS:1993:RJ), currently serving as Additional Secretary, National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs.
  3. Alok Shekhar (IAS:1994:PB), holding the position of Additional Secretary, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation.
  4. Vikram Sahay (IRS-IT:1992), presently in the role of Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

Rajasthan govt transfers 40 IAS officers and assigns additional charges to 16

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its nod to the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change’s (MoEF&CC) proposals for the following appointments:

  1. Rajesh S (IFoS:2000:AGMUT) was appointed as Inspector General of Forests (IGF) in New Delhi, on deputation basis under the Central Staffing Scheme of the Ministry (CSS-MoEF&CC).
  2. CK Sonwane (IFoS:2000:GJ) was appointed as Regional Director, Forest Survey of India, Nagpur, on deputation basis under the Central Staffing Scheme of the Ministry (CSS MoEF&CC).

Saheli Ghosh gets extension as JS in MHA

The tenure of Saheli Ghosh (CSS), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs has been extended for a period of one year. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of Ministry of Home Affairs to extend the tenure of Ms Roy for a period of one year beyond 30.11.2023 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Two IAS officers repatriated to parent cadre

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the premature repatriation of two IAS officers to their parent cadre.

They are;

  1. Virendra Mittal (IAS:2007:AM), Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat, has been repatriated to his parent cadre with the imposition of an extended cooling-off condition.
  2. P Ashok Babu (IAS:2003:AM), Joint Secretary in the Department of Health & Family Welfare, has been repatriated to his parent cadre with the imposition of an extended cooling-off condition.
