Speculation arises as ACS KK Pathak seeks leave extension until January 31

KK Pathak (IAS:1990:BH), the Additional Chief Secretary of the Bihar Education Department, has submitted a request for an extension of his leave until January 31. Chief Secretary Aamir Subhani confirmed that Pathak, whose initial leave period concluded on Tuesday, has sought an extension from January 16 to January 31. This development has reignited speculation within the power corridors of Patna, speculating the potential appointment of a new Additional Secretary in the Education Department to replace KK Pathak. However, there is no official confirmation regarding his replacement at this point.

Assuming the role of Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department in June 2023, KK Pathak initially applied for earned leave from January 8 to January 14. Subsequently, he sought an extension until January 16. On January 9, the General Administration Department issued an order entrusting the complete responsibility of KK Pathak to Education Department Secretary Vaidyanath Yadav.

KK Pathak’s stringent working approach has led to discontent among various individuals, including the Governor, Education Minister, and MLAs.

MP: Veera Rana appointed Chief Secretary, Sanjay Bandopadhyay to head MP Employees Selection Board

The Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday (17.01.2024) appointed Veera Rana (IAS:1988:MP) as the state’s new Chief Secretary (CS). Alongside her role as CS, Rana has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of serving as the Chairperson of the MP Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE).

Remarkably, Ranan holds the distinction of being only the second woman to assume this esteemed position within the state’s bureaucracy. IAS officer Nirmala Buch (IAS:1960:MP), who served in the early 1990s, paved the way as the first woman to hold the position of Chief Secretary in Madhya Pradesh.

In another key appointment, Sanjay Bandopadhyay (IAS:1988:MP), recently repatriated to his parent cadre, has been named Chairman of the MP Employees Selection Board, formerly known as Vyapam.
