According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (19.01.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension for three months beyond 17.01.2024, up to 17.04.2024, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
D/o Commerce JS Vipul Bansal returns to parent cadre
Vipul Bansal (IAS:2005:KN), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce, has been granted a three-month extension to his central deputation tenure. The decision was conveyed through an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (19.01.2024), with the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The extension is applicable beyond 18.01.2024 or until further orders, whichever takes place earlier.
Private Secretary Ashutosh Salil to Union Minister G Krishna Reddy re-designated as Director
Ashutosh Salil (IAS:2010:MH), currently serving as Private Secretary at the Deputy Secretary level to Minister for Culture, Tourism & Development of North Eastern Region G Krishna Reddy, has undergone a re-designation. He has been promoted to the Director level within the same Minister’s office.
This re-designation, a personal measure for Ashutosh Salil, will be effective from the date he assumes the responsibilities of the new position. The appointment is valid for a specific period, extending until August 28, 2026, on a coterminous basis with Minister G Krishna Reddy. Alternatively, the tenure may conclude if Ashutosh Salil discontinues his role as the Private Secretary or based on further instructions from the Competent Authority.
It is noteworthy that Ashutosh Salil commenced his central deputation tenure on August 24, 2021.
Senior IPS officer Daljit Singh Chaudhary appointed DG of SSB
Senior IPS officer Daljit Singh Chaudhary (IPS:1990:UP) has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (19.01.2024). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment to the post, extending until November 30, 2025, which aligns with his superannuation date. Presently serving as the Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Chaudhary is set to assume the leadership role at SSB. The top position in the central armed police force became vacant following the repatriation of Rashmi Shukla (IPS:1988:MH) to her cadre state Maharashtra earlier this month. Anish Dayal Singh (IPS:1988:MN), DG of CRPF, was assigned additional responsibilities upon Shukla’s repatriation. The SSB is tasked with guarding India’s frontiers with Nepal and Bhutan.
ABS Shalini re-designated Director in Department of Consumer Affairs
In a recent development, ABS Shalini (IRS-IT:2010), who currently holds the position of Deputy Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs, has been re-designated as Director within the same Ministry. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an order on Friday (19.01.2024), announcing the approval of the competent authority for the re-designation proposed by the Department of Consumer Affairs. The re-designation is sanctioned for a period extending up to 05.04.2028, encompassing a total tenure of five years under the central staffing scheme.
It is worth noting that Abs Shalini commenced her central deputation tenure on April 06, 2023.
Rocktim Saikia re-designated as Director in M/o Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Aayush
Rocktim Saikia (IRS-IT:2010), currently serving as Private Secretary at the Deputy Secretary level to Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Aayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, has undergone a re-designation, being elevated to the Director level within the same Minister’s office.
This re-designation, a personal measure for Rocktim Saikia, is set to take effect from the date he assumes the responsibilities of the new position. The appointment is endorsed for a specific period, extending until September 13, 2026, on a coterminous basis with Minister G Krishna Reddy. Alternatively, the tenure may conclude if Rocktim Saikia discontinues his role as the Private Secretary or based on further instructions from the Competent Authority.

Shyam Lal Poonia re-designated as Director in MoHUA
Shyam Lal Poonia (IAS:2010:MN), currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), has undergone a re-designation and has been promoted to the position of Director within the same Ministry. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an order on Friday (19.01.2024), announcing the approval of the competent authority for the re-designation proposed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Mr. Poonia’s re-designation is endorsed for a period extending up to 07.12.2026, constituting a total tenure of five years under the central staffing scheme.
It is noteworthy that Shyam Lal Poonia commenced his central deputation tenure on December 12, 2019.
Suman Chandra re-designated as Director in M/o New and Renewable Energy
Suman Chandra (IAS:2010:MH), currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has undergone a re-designation and has been promoted to the position of Director within the same Ministry. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an order on Friday (19.01.2024), announcing the approval of the competent authority for the re-designation proposed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Mr. Chandra’s re-designation is sanctioned for a period extending up to 22.01.2028, constituting a total tenure of five years under the central staffing scheme.
It is noteworthy that Suman Chandra commenced his central deputation tenure from January 31, 2010.
Prashant Shukla re-designated as Director in DoPT
Prashant Shukla (IRS-IT:2010), currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), has been re-designated and promoted to the position of Director within the same department. An order issued by the DoPT on Friday (19.01.2024) confirmed the approval of the competent authority for Mr. Shukla’s re-designation, in line with the proposal put forth by the DoPT. The re-designation is valid for a period up to 22.01.2028, coinciding with the functioning of the G-20 Secretariat, and is further extendable up to the admissible tenure under the central staffing scheme or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
It is noteworthy that Prashant Shukla commenced his central deputation tenure on October 28, 2010.
