Nagaland: Retired DGP T John Longkumar appointed as State Election Commissioner

The Nagaland government, on Tuesday, announced the appointment of T John Longkumar (IPS:1991:CG), a retired DGP, as the State Election Commissioner. The appointment is effective from the date of assuming charge and is set for 5 years or until he reaches the age of 65, or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier.

The conditions and terms of T John Longkumer’s appointment as the State Election Commissioner will be governed by Rule 3, 5, 6, 7 & 8 of the State Election Commissioner (Condition of Service) Rule 2023. This information was conveyed through a notification issued by the Additional Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, and it was published in the Nagaland Gazette Extraordinary on January 30.

Uttarakhand: Radha Raturi becomes first woman Chief Secretary

The Uttarakhand government was on Wednesday appointed Radha Raturi (IAS:1988:UK) as the state’s first woman Chief Secretary. Ms. Raturi is set to succeed Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu (IAS:1988:UK), whose term has concluded today. Dr. Sandhu, having been granted a six-month extension post-retirement, has completed his extended tenure.

Previously serving as the Additional Chief Secretary in charge of Secretariat Administration, Chief Minister’s Office, Home, and Jail, Radha Raturi’s elevation to the Chief Secretary position is a historic milestone. She now holds the distinction of being the first woman to occupy the highest administrative post in Uttarakhand since its establishment in November 2000.

UP: Prashant Kumar appointed acting DGP

The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday appointed Prashant Kumar (IPS:1990:UP), the Director General of Law and Order, as the new acting Director General of Police (DGP) for the state. He will assume the role from Vijay Kumar (IPS:1988:UP), the outgoing acting DGP who retires later today.

Prashant Kumar, a senior IPS officer, enjoys the trust of the Yogi government and has been instrumental in enhancing the law-and-order situation in Uttar Pradesh. His previous posting was as the Additional Director General (ADG) of Meerut.

This marks the fourth consecutive term in which Uttar Pradesh has had an acting DGP. Previously, D S Chauhan (IPS:1988:UP), R K Vishwakarma (IPS:1988:UP), and Vijay Kumar (IPS:1988:UP) have served in this interim capacity.

ACC approves empanelment of 8 IRPS officers for promotion to HAG level

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has granted approval for the empanelment of officers from the Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) for promotion to the Higher Administrative Grade (HAG) at pay matrix level 15 for the year 2024.

The empanelled officers include:

Harish Duhan appointed as Director (Technical) of Central Coalfields Limited

Harish Duhan, currently serving as the General Manager (GM) at Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), has been appointed as the Director (Technical) at Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). As per an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (30.01.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its nod to the Ministry of Coal’s proposal for Mr. Duhan’s appointment.

According to the order, Harish Duhan is appointed to the post from the date he assumes charge, on or after 01.03.2024, and will serve in this capacity until the date of his superannuation on 31.03.2028, or until further directives are issued, whichever event takes place earlier.

N Franklin Jayakumar appointed as Director (Technical) of SECL

N. Franklin Jayakumar, currently serving as the Executive Director at NLC India Limited (NLCIL), has been appointed as the Director (Technical) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) for a term of five years. As per an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (30.01.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its approval to the Ministry of Coal’s proposal for Mr. Jayakumar’s appointment. The order specifies that he will assume the role for a period of five years from the date he takes charge of the position or until further directives, whichever occurs earlier.

Jai Prakash Dwivedi appointed as CMD of Western Coalfields Limited

Jai Prakash Dwivedi has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). As per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (30.01.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its approval to the Ministry of Coal’s proposal for Mr. Dwivedi’s appointment. The order specifies that he will serve in this capacity from the date he assumes charge of the post, on or after 01.02.2024, until the date of his superannuation on 31.01.2026, or until further directives, whichever transpires earlier.

Currently holding the position of Director (Technical) at WCL, Jai Prakash Dwivedi is poised to take on the responsibilities of CMD in the upcoming period.

Punjab: 6 DCs among 10 IAS officers shifted

The Punjab government on Monday issued transfer posting orders for 10 IAS officers, including six Deputy Commissioners.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

Uttarakhand: Radha Raturi to be first woman Chief Secretary

IAS officer Radha Raturi (IAS:1988:UK) is set to make history as the first woman Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand. According to official sources, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved her appointment to the prestigious role. Currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Raturi will succeed Sukhbir Singh Sandhu (IAS:1988:UK), whose tenure concludes on Wednesday.

Raturi’s elevation to the position marks a significant milestone, as she becomes the first woman to hold the top administrative post in Uttarakhand, since its establishment in November 2000. Throughout her extensive administrative career, Raturi has undertaken various crucial roles, showcasing her experience and expertise in governance.

UP: 8 DMs among 19 IAS officers shifted

In a late-night development on Monday, the Uttar Pradesh government executed the transfer of 19 IAS officers, a move that notably involved the District Magistrates (DMs) of eight districts. Several of these officers had been stationed at the same location for a continuous three-year period. The decision to transfer them was made in compliance with the directives issued by the Election Commission.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows :
