Karnataka: DGP CH Pratap Reddy seeks voluntary retirement

Karnataka’s Director General of Police (DGP) for the Internal Security Division, C H Pratap Reddy (IPS:1991:KN), has submitted a request for voluntary retirement from service. Anticipating retirement in June 2024, Reddy has expressed his preference to be relieved by the end of April. In compliance with regulations, Reddy applied for Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) in January 2024, following the stipulated “three-month notice in writing to the appointing authority before the date of retirement.”

Formerly serving as the police commissioner of Bengaluru city, Reddy took on the role of DGP, Internal Security Division. With a diverse career, he has previously worked with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and received accolades such as the Chief Minister’s Medal for Meritorious Service and the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. Reddy has held significant ranks within the state, contributing to law enforcement and internal security.

IPS Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad inducted in NIA as SP

IPS officer Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad (IPS:2012:KN) has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a tenure of five years. This decision was conveyed through an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday (09.02.2024). The competent authority has granted approval for Mr. Shahapurwad’s induction, effective for a period of five years from the date he assumes charge of the post or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier.

In a recent development, Madhup Kumar Tiwari (IPS:1995:AGMUT) has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Chandigarh. This significant decision was announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), which issued the orders on Friday.

The outgoing DGP, Praveer Ranjan (IPS:1993:AGMUT), has been reassigned to the role of Additional Director General in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Notably, Ranjan had assumed his responsibilities within the Chandigarh police in August 2021.

Simultaneously, the MHA has issued transfer orders for the DGP of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Davesh Chandra Srivastva (IPS:1995:AGMUT), who is now slated to move to Delhi. Following this transfer, Surender Singh Yadav (IPS:1997:AGMUT) has taken over as the new DGP of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Vivek Kumar Singh (IRTS:2009) has been appointed as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi, under the Department of School Education & Literacy for a period of three years.
