RK Mishra gets addl. charge of Development Commissioner, SEEPZ, SEZ Mumbai

RK Mishra (IRS-C&IT:1995), currently serving as the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in Mumbai, has been entrusted with an additional responsibility. He will be assuming the position of Development Commissioner (Joint Secretary level) at the Santa Cruz Exclusive Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ), SEZ Mumbai, for a duration of six months.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (29.02.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its approval to the Department of Commerce’s proposal for extending the entrustment of additional charge to Mr. Mishra. This extension is effective from 13.01.2024 to 12.07.2024, or until the regular incumbent assumes the position, or until further orders, depending on whichever occurs earlier.

ACC clears empanelment of 26 IRS-IT officers for Principal Chief Commissioner positions

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Thursday (29.02.2024) granted approval for the empanelment of 26 IRS-IT officers belonging from the 1988 and 1989 batches to assume the Principal Chief Commissioner (Income Tax) rank within the Indian Revenue Service. This designation places them in Level 17 in the Pay Matrix for the panel year 2024.

MP: Ganesh Shankar Mishra relieved for central deputation

Ganesh Shankar Mishra (IAS:2010:MP), who was serving as the MD of the MP Central Zone Electricity Distribution Company Limited Employees, Bhopal and MD, Energy Development Corporation, Bhopal, has been relieved of his duties. His services have been transferred to the Government of India for his new role as Deputy Director at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, at the director level.

The Department of Personnel and Training issued orders on February 9 for his appointment as Deputy Director at LBSNAA on central deputation.

In the wake of this development, Raghuraj M R (IAS:2004:MP), presently holding the position of Managing Director at MP Power Management Company Limited and ex-officio, Energy and Renewable Energy, has been assigned the additional charge of MP Central Zone Electricity Distribution Company Limited Employees in Bhopal and MD of Energy Development Corporation, Bhopal.

UP: CM advisor Awanish Awasthi tenure extended for one more year

Awanish Awasthi, Advisor to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has been granted a one-year extension, continuing in his role until February 2025. Awanish Awasthi, a 1987 batch IAS officer, officially retired on August 31, 2022, and subsequently assumed the position of advisor to the Chief Minister. Entrusted with advising on administrative matters, his term was initially set until February 28, 2023. Last year, in February, he received a one-year extension, extending his tenure until February 2024. With the recent extension, he will continue to serve in this capacity until 2025.

Uttarakhand former DGP Ashok Kumar appointed VC of Sports University of Haryana

Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand Ashok Kumar (IPS:1989:UK) has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Sports University of Haryana. A native of Kurana village in the Panipat district, Ashok Kumar is set to assume the role of VC on March 1.

The initial VC of the university was SS Deswal (IPS:1984:HY), former DGP of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), who commenced his tenure in December 2022, with an appointment period extending until December 2025. However, he recently resigned from the position.

Maharashtra: ECI appoints S Chockalingam as Chief Electoral Officer

The Election Commission of India on Wednesday (28.02.2024) appointed S Chockalingam (IAS:1996:MH) as the new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Maharashtra, replacing the current CEO, S M Deshpande (IAS:1991:MH). As per the EC notification, Chockalingam, who is presently serving as the Director General of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration in Pune, will assume the role of CEO for the state.

The customary procedure involves the Election Commission requesting a list of three names from the state government, from which one individual is designated as the CEO. This appointed official acts as the top representative of the Election Commission in each respective state.

Odisha: Three Collectors among four IAS officers shifted

Odisha government enacts bureaucratic reshuffle

The Odisha government on Wednesday (28.02.2024) implemented a bureaucratic restructuring, reshuffling four IAS officers and assigning them to new roles at various positions. As a result of this reorganization, new Collectors have been appointed for Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Puri districts.

The name of the officers and their posting are as follows;

  1. Siddharth Shankar Swain (IAS:2014:OR), Commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CWC) with additional charge of Vice Chairman of Cuttack Development Authority (CDA), has been transferred and posted as Collector and District Magistrate, Puri.
  2. Bijay Kumar Dash (IAS:2012:OR), Collector and District Magistrate, Puri, has been appointed as Commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CWC).
  3. Ashish Thakare (IAS:2011:OR), Collector and District Magistrate, Mayurbhanj, has been transferred and posted as Collector and District Magistrate, Balasore.
  4. Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde (IAS:2016:OR), Collector and District Magistrate, Balasore, has been transferred and posted as Collector and District Magistrate, Mayurbhanj.

Maharashtra: DGP Rashmi Shukla to have 2-year tenure

The Maharashtra government Tuesday (27.02.2024) issued an order extending the tenure of IPS officer Rashmi Shukla (IPS:1988:MH) as the state Director General of Police (DGP) for a two-year period. Despite her initial appointment as DGP on January 3 of the same year, she was initially set to retire on June 30, allowing for only a six-month tenure.

The home department’s order, referencing Supreme Court directives on the duration of the state DGP’s tenure, ensures that Rashmi Shukla will now hold the position until January 3, 2026.

Before her assignment as DGP, Shukla served on central deputation, leading the Sashastra Seema Bal. Prior to that, she held the position of Additional Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). During her service in the state police, she had previously served as the Pune Police Commissioner and led the State Intelligence Department (SID) during the tenure of the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government.
