Bihar: Jitendra Kumar appointed as Chairman of CSBC

IPS as nodal officers

Shobha Ahotkar (IPS: 1990: BH), DGP-cum-Commandant General of Bihar Home Guards and Fire Services, concurrently holding the position of Chairperson at the Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC), Patna, has been relieved of her role as Chairperson of CSBC. The responsibility of Chairmanship at CSBC has been entrusted to ADGP Jitendra Kumar (IPS: 1993: BH), who was previously serving as ADGP, CID.

The Bihar government on Wednesday (06.03.2024) issued transfer and posting orders for 8 IPS officers, resulting in the assignment of new Superintendents of Police to five districts.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

  1. Chandan Kumar Kushwaha (IPS:2010:BH), Commandant, Home Guard Battalion, has been transferred and posted as SP, Khagaria.
  2. Har Kishore Rai (IAS:2011:BH), Assistant IG, Bihar Special Armed Police, Patna with additional charge of Assistant IG, Training, Patna, has been transferred and posted as SP, Vaishali.
  3. Rajendra Kumar Bheel (IPS:2011:BH), Additional Director-cum-Assistant State Fire Officer, Patna, has been transferred and posted as SP, Arwal.
  4. Dr. Inamul Haque Mengnoo (IPS:2012:BH), SP, Kishanganj, has been transferred and posted as Commandant, Home Guard Battalion, Patna.
  5. Kartikey K Sharma (IPS:2014:BH), SP, Vaishali, has been transferred and posted as Assistant IG, Bihar Special Armed Police, Patna with additional charge of Assistant IG, Training, Patna.

The Bihar government on Wednesday (06.03.2024) issued transfer and posting orders for 15 IAS officers, leading to changes in three District Magistrates and one Divisional Commissioner.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

  1. Deepak Kumar Singh (IAS:1992:BH), Additional Chief Secretary, Cooperative Department, has been transferred and posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Land Reform Department.
  2. Parmar Ravi Manubhai (IAS:1992:BH), Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Mines Commissioner, Mines and Geology Department with additional charges of MD, Bihar State Mineral Development Corporation Limited and MD, Bihar State Mineral Corporation Limited, has been given additional charge of Enquiry Commissioner.
  3. Anand Kishore (IAS:1996:BH), Chairman, Bihar School Education Board, Patna with additional charge of CEO, Bihar Board of Open Schooling & Examination (BBOSE), Patna-including financial charge, has been transferred and posted as Principal Secretary, Urban Development and Housing Department with additional charge of MD, Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited.

The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday issued transfer and posting orders for four IPS officers.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

  1. Malika Garg (IPS:2015:AP), SP of Tirupati, has been transferred and posted as SP, CID.
  2. Gowthami Sali (IPS:2016:AP), Commandant, 16th Battalion APSP, Visakhapatnam, has been placed in full additional charge of the post of Commandant, 5th Battalion, Vizianagaram.
  3. Adhiraj Singh Rana (IPS:2017:AP), Commandant, 5th Battalion, Vizianagaram, has been transferred and posted as DCP, Law & Order, Vijayawada.
  4. Krishna Kanth Patel (IPS:2018:AP), DCP, Law & Order, Vijayawada, has been transferred and posted as SP, Tirupati.

Anurag Agrawal appointed Joint Secretary (Security), Lok Sabha Secretariat

Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Anurag Agarwal (IPS:1998:AM) has been appointed as the Joint Secretary (Security) of the Lok Sabha Secretariat. Prior to this role, he served as the Inspector General (IG) of the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) North East Sector based in Shillong.

The order issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat on February 29 stated, “The Speaker is pleased to appoint Anurag Agarwal, IPS(AM:98), presently working as IG, CRPF, to the post of Joint Secretary (Security) on deputation basis for a period of three (03) years from the date of assumption of charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”

The vacancy in the position arose after Raghubir Lal (IPS:1997:UP), the previous officer in the role, shifted out on November 2 to take up his next assignment in parent cadre Uttar Pradesh as ADGP, Security. The post remained vacant during a security breach on December 13. Subsequently, the Lok Sabha Secretariat requested the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to provide names of potential candidates to fill the vacancy promptly.

In his capacity as Joint Secretary (Security), Agarwal will lead the Parliament Security Service (PSS), an internal security service responsible for securing the Parliament. The PSS is supported by two Directors (Security) from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, typically DIG rank officers on deputation from paramilitary forces. The head of the PSS oversees all paramilitary forces and Delhi Police personnel within the Parliament premises.

J&K: DG Prisons Deepak Kumar gets addl. charge of Crime Branch

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday (02.03.2024) assigned the additional charge of Special DG Crime Branch J&K to DG Prisons Deepak Kumar (IPS:1993:AGMUT) following appointment of senior IPS officer A K Choudhary as the chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission.
