UP: Former DGP Rajkumar Vishwakarma appointed new Chief Information Commissioner

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday (07.03.2024) announced the appointment of retired Director General of Police (DGP) Rajkumar Vishwakarma (Retd.IPS:1988:UP) as the new Chief Information Commissioner of the state.

Additionally, the state government appointed 10 Information Commissioners, including five with a background in the media. The media professionals appointed to the role are Mohd Nadeem, Virendra Pratap Singh, Rajendra Singh, Swatantra Prakash, and PN Dwivedi.

The remaining Information Commissioners include former Deputy Inspector General Sudhir Kumar Singh, Girijesh Kumar Chaudhary, a retired Provincial Civil Services (PCS) officer, Shakuntala Gautam, a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Dileep Kumar Agnihotri, Associate Professor at Vidyant Hindu College Lucknow, and Rakesh Kumar, a lawyer.

Tripura: Angshuman Dey gets addl. charge of Secretary, North Eastern Council

Angshuman Dey (IFS:1997:TR), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of DoNER, has been assigned the additional responsibility of Secretary, North Eastern Council, Shillong. The former Secretary of North Eastern Council, Shillong, K Moses Chalai (IAS:1990:MN), was relieved from his position following his appointment as the Secretary of the Inter State Council Secretariat (ISCS) in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Tripura: PL Agarwal’s responsibilities redistributed among two IFS officers

Following the suspension of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) PL Agarwal (IFS:1994:TR), amid the controversy surrounding the naming of a pair of lions as Akbar and Sita, which were sent to West Bengal, the Tripura government has redistributed his responsibilities among two senior IFS officers.

RK Samal (IFS:1993:TR), currently the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APR) with additional roles as CEO of CAMPA and MD of TRPC Ltd., will now also assume the responsibilities of Chief Wildlife Warden, Member Secretary of Tripura Biodiversity Board, and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (FCA).

Deepa D Nair (IFS:2001:TR), Chief Conservator of Forests (Planning & Development) and CEO of Element Project, will now take on the duties of Managing Director of Tripura Nature Trail Resorts (TNTR) Ltd., CEO & PD of Tripura JICA (SCATFORM) Project, and Chief Conservator of Forests (Research & Training).

Raj Kumar Chaudhary selected as CMD of NHPC Limited

Raj Kumar Chaudhary has been selected as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), NHPC Limited at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on March 07, 2024. Presently, he is serving as Director (Technical & Projects), NHPC Limited.

He will be appointed to the post of CMD after receiving vigilance clearances and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Naresh Kumar (YOA:2006) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Presently, he is serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

Deputation tenure of three IAS officers posted in J&K extended

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has granted approval to the Department of Personnel & Training’s proposal to extend the tenure of three IAS officers serving in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, each for an additional year.

The officers benefiting from this extension order include Basharat Qayoom (IAS:2016:BH) from the Jharkhand cadre, Akshay Labroo (IAS:2018:BH) from the Tripura cadre, and Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan (IAS:2016:BH) from the Rajasthan cadre.

Meghalaya: MCS Aldealyne Nikhla elevated to Indian Administrative Service

In compliance with a directive from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training), Ms. Aldealyne Nikhla, a senior officer of the Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS), has been elevated to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) within the joint Assam-Meghalaya cadre. Ms. Nikhla, a member of the 2000 MCS batch, commenced his service as an Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) in Tura and subsequently held the position of Additional Deputy Commissioner of the East Khasi Hill.

40 ITAT members get posting orders

The Ministry of Law and Justice has issued posting orders for forty members (Judicial & Accountancy) in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT). These orders come after almost two and a half months, following the central government’s clearance of their appointments to the ITAT.
