The central deputation tenure of Sangeet (IDAS:2004) as Director in the Department of Food and Public Distribution has been extended for a period of one year. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (12.03.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of D/o Food and Public Distribution to the extend the deputation tenure of Mr. Sangeet under the central staffing scheme for a period of one year beyond 12.03.2024 and upto 12.03.2025 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra gets second extension
The Modi government has given its approval for an extension in the service tenure of Vinay Mohan Kwatra (IFS:1988), appointing him to continue serving as Foreign Secretary for an additional six months, concluding on October 31, 2024. The Personnel Ministry order officially confirmed this directive. Notably, this marks the second extension for Kwatra.
In a prior decision on November 28, 2022, the government had granted a 16-month extension to Kwatra, allowing him to continue in service beyond his original date of superannuation on December 31, 2022. Vinay Mohan Kwatra assumed the role of Foreign Secretary on May 1, 2022, succeeding Harsh Vardhan Shringla. His extended term is now slated to conclude on April 30, 2024.
Chandigarh: Surendra Singh Yadav appointed new DGP
Senior IPS officer Surendra Singh Yadav (IPS:1997:AGMUT) on Tuesday transferred from Delhi and appointed the new Chandigarh DGP. Yadav will replace Praveer Ranjan (IPS:1993:AGMUT).
The immediate effect of this modification has been confirmed by a revised order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday. The transfer of Yadav is part of an ongoing administrative reshuffle. Alongside Yadav’s appointment, the MHA has also revoked the earlier transfer and posting orders of IPS officers Madhup Kumar Tiwari (IPS:1995:AGMUT) and Devesh Chandra Srivastava (IPS:1995:AGMUT).
Haryana: 7 IAS probationers (2023 batch) get posting as Assistant Commissioners
The Haryana government on Tuesday (12.03.2024) issued posting orders for seven IAS Probationers of the 2023 batch as Assistant Commissioners in various districts on completion of their training in Lal Bahadur Shastri National Administrative Academy (LBSNAA), Mussoorie.

UP: Braj Bhushan appointed Member of UP Human Rights Commission
The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday (12.03.2024) appointed Retired IPS officer Braj Bhushan (IPS:1991:UP) as the new Member of the UP Human Rights Commission in Lucknow. As per the notification issued by the state government, Mr. Bhushan’s appointment to the post is for a period of three years or until he reaches the age of 65, whichever comes earlier.

Tamil Nadu: B Jothi Nirmalasamy appointed as new State Election Commissioner
The Tamil Nadu government on Monday (11.03.2024) announced the appointment of B Jothi Nirmalasamy (IAS:2002:TN) as the Commissioner of the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, succeeding V Palaniswamy. Previously serving as the Secretary of the Commercial Taxes and Registration department, Jothi Nirmalasamy will assume her new role.
As per the Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), Jothi Nirmalasamy is appointed for a term of five years or until she reaches the age of 65, whichever occurs earlier.
