CBIC: 30 IRS-I&CT officers promoted to Principal Commissioner grade

CBIC

the central government announced the promotion of 30 officers to the grade of Principal Commissioner of Customs and Indirect Taxes (C&IT) within the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes). These promotions are for the panel years 2023 (Supplementary Panel) and 2024 (Regular) and will be effective from the date the respective officers assume their post charges.

For the Supplementary Panel of 2023:

  1. Subhash Chandra Agarwal
  2. Ranjan Khanna
  3. Alok Jha

An Extended Panel will operate in lieu of the officer empanelled at Serial Number 1 in the main panel, who is away on deputation.

For the Supplementary Panel of 2024:

LBSNAA Deputy Director Disha Pannu repatriated to parent cadre

Disha Pannu (IPoS:2010), Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary level), Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, has been prematurely repatriated to her parent cadre. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (18.03.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the prmature repatriation of Ms. Pannu to her parent cadre with immediate effect, with the provision of extended cooling off.

Govind Mohan gets addl. charge of Secretary, Department of Sports

Govind Mohan (IAS:1989:SK), Secretary, Ministry of Culture, has been given additional charge of Secretary, Department of Sports. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (18.03.2024), the competent authority has approved assignment of additional charge of the post to Mr. Mohan from 27.03.2024 to 16.04.2024 during the period of absence on leave of Sujata Chaturvedi (IAS:1989:SK).

SCL Das gets addl. charge of Secretary, Ministry of Steel

Subhas Chandra Lal Das (IAS:1992:AGMUT), Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, has been given additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Steel. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (18.03.2024), the competent authority has approved assignment of additional charge of the post to Mr. SCL Das from 18.03.2024 to 28.03.2024 during the period of absence on leave of Nagendra Nath Singh (IAS:1987:JH).

Lokesh HD empanelled for promotion to SAG

Indian Trade Service

Lokesh HD, along with another officer from the Indian Trade Service, has been empanelled for promotion to the Senior Administrative Grade. This grade is designated as Additional Director General of Foreign Trade/Development Commissioner of Special Economic Zone/Trade Advisor within the Indian Trade Service (ITS). The promotion is effective for the panel year 2024 and will be within the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.

Ajit N appointed as Director (Marketing), HLL Life Care Limited

Ajit N, Senior Vice President, HLL Lifecare Limited, has been appointed as Director (Marketing), HLL Life Care Limited for five years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (15.03.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Coal to appoint Mr. Ajit to the post for five years or till the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Biranchi Das appointed Director (Personnel), SECL

Biranchi Das has been appointed as Director (Personnel), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (15.03.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Coal to appoint Mr. Das to the post till the date of his superannuation i.e. 31.05.2028 or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Previously, he served as General Manager (GM), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL).

Notably, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) had recommended Biranchi Das for the Director (Personnel) role at SECL on November 2, 2023, following interviews with 12 candidates.

IRS officer Purushottam Tripuri empanelled for promotion to CCIT grade

Purushottam Tripuri (IRS-IT) has been empanelled for promotion to the grade of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT). As per an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (15.03.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its approval to the proposal for Mr. Tripuri’s empanelment and promotion to the grade of CCIT in the Indian Revenue Service (CBDT) against the panel year 2022.

Md Asad Alam appointed CMD of Braithwaite & Company Ltd

Md Asad Alam has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Braithwaite & Company Ltd (BCL). The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an order on Friday (15.03.2024), stating that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the Ministry of Railways’ proposal to appoint Mr. Alam to the position until January 31, 2027, which is the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier. Currently, he holds the position of Chief Rolling Stock Engineer (Coaching) at South Eastern Railway.

MoS Subhas Sarkar’s Private Secretary PK Singh repatriated to parent cadre

Pradeep Kumar Singh (CSS), Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhas Sarkar in the Ministry of Education on Friday (15.03.2024), has prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre. According to an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal to repatriate Mr. Singh to his parent cadre to avail benefit of promotion.
