Pradeep Singh Kharola (IAS:1985:KN), who currently serves as the Chairman & Managing Director of the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). This decision was formalized through an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the entrustment of additional charge of the post to Kharola, effective from May 1, 2024, until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier.

The incumbent Chairman of SSC, S Kishore (Retd.IAS:1989:WB), is set to conclude his extended tenure on April 30. Initially appointed to the position in February 2022, Kishore’s tenure was extended on a contractual basis beyond his superannuation date of January 31, 2023, until January 31, 2024.
