Bramha Kumar (IFS:2005) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Zimbabwe. Presently, he is serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
UPSC CSE Result 2023 declared; Aditya Srivastava secured top rank
The Union Public Service Commission on Tuesday (16.04.2024) released the results of the Civil Service Examinations 2023 on its official website upsc.gov.in.
The first position in the 2022-23 UPSC CSE final exams was secured by Aditya Srivastava. Animesh Pradhan secured the second rank, and Donuru Ananya Reddy secured the third position.
A total of 1016 names have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service, and Central Services Group A and Group B. The candidature of 355 recommended candidates has been kept provisional and as many as 240 candidates have been put in a reserved list.
The UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Examinations 2023 was conducted on May 28, and the UPSC Mains examination was conducted on September 15, 16, 17, 23, and 24, 2023. The final personality test/interview round was held phase-wise from January 2 to April 9, 2024.

Vivek Aggrawal (IAS:1994:MP), currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Revenue, has been authorized to continue holding the additional charge of the post of Director (Finance Intelligence Unit-India) for an additional six months. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (15.04.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the Department of Revenue’s proposal for extending the entrustment of additional charge for another six months, from 30.03.2024 to 29.09.2024, or until the appointment of a regular incumbent, or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier.
Ms. Yatinder Prasad gets extension as JS & FA, Ministry of Tribal
The central deputation tenure of Ms. Yatinder Prasad (IA&AS:1993) as Joint Secretary and FA, Ministry of Tribal has been extended for a period of two years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (15.04.2024) the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved to extend the deputation tenure of Ms. Yatinder Prasad for a period of two years beyond 04.08.2024 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Saurabh Garg gets addl. charge of Secretary, MoSPI
Saurabh Garg (IAS:1991:OR), currently serving as Secretary in the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (15.04.2024), the competent authority has approved the assignment of additional charge to Saurabh Garg upon the completion of Dr. GP Samanta’s tenure on 15.04.2024. This arrangement will continue until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier.
DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V Kamat set to retire on May 31, screening committee suggests three names
The central government has been busy identifying a suitable head for the DRDO as the incumbent chairman, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, is set to retire on May 31 after nearly three years in office.
According to reports, the screening committee has suggested the names of three very senior scientists from within the DRDO:
- Dr. BK Das, Director General, Electronics & Communication Systems
- Suma Varughese, Director General, Micro Electronic Devices, Computational Systems, and Cyber Systems
- Ummalaneni Raja Babu, Director General, Missiles and Strategic Systems
Das is the most senior among them, and many believe that his chances of becoming chairman of DRDO are higher.

The Gujarat government on Sunday (14.04.2024) effected major reshuffle in police administration by transferring and promoting 35 officers. This decision to IPS cadre reshuffle came after the Election Commission of India (ECI), which directed the government to submit a list of IPS officers within 48 hours to fill the vacant positions.
