Four IES officers shifted, Gaurav Kumar posted as Economic Adviser, D/o Fisheries

The Department of Economic Affairs on Tuesday (30.04.2024) issued transfer and posting orders for four Indian Economic Service officers.

They are;

  1. Gaurav Kumar (IES:1999), Economic Adviser, Ministry of Textiles, has been transferred and posted as Economic Adviser, Department of Fisheries.
  2. Bikram Nath (IES:2014), Joint Director, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, has been transferred and posted as Joint Director, Ministry of Labour and Employment.
  3. Venkat Hariharan Asha (IES:2016), Deputy Director, Department of Pharmaceuticals, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Director, Department of Economic Affairs.
  4. Giriraj Prasad Meena (IES:2019), Deputy Director, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Director, Department of Pharmaceuticals.

IAS Geetika Sharma appointed Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Mines

Geetika Sharma (IAS:2012:AGMUT), who was recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Mines for four years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (01.05.2024), the central government has approved the appointment of Geetika Sharma to the post under the central staffing scheme for four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Ranjan Sharma (ISupplyS:2014), who was recommended for central deputation by the Department of Commerce, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Central Information Commission (CIC) for four years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (01.05.2024), the central government has approved the appointment of Ranjan Sharma to the post under the central staffing scheme for four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Pratima Singh (IRS-C&CE:2009), who was recommended for central deputation by the Department of Revenue, has been appointed as Director in the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Delhi for five years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (01.05.2024), the central government has approved the appointment of Pratima Singh to the post under the central staffing scheme for five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Department of Commerce Director Anand Bhaskar repatriated to parent cadre

Anand Bhaskar (IRS-IT:2010), Director in the Department of Commerce, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (30.04.2024), the competent authority has approved the proposal of Department of Commerce to repatriate Anand Bhaskar to his parent cadre to avail promotion and also on personal grounds.

Himachal Pradesh: Dr Atul Verma appointed new DGP

Senior IPS officer Dr Atul Verma (IPS:1991:HP) has been appointed the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh. Prior to this, Verma was serving as the Director General of CID.

Verma’s appointment orders were issued by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena on Wednesday after obtaining permission from the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Sanjay Kundu (IPS:1988:HP), the former DGP of Himachal Pradesh, retired on Tuesday after serving 35 years in the police service.

In terms of seniority, IPS officer Atul Verma ranks fourth, following IPS officers Tapan Kumar Deka (IPS:1988:HP), S R Ojha (IAS:1989:HP), and Shyam Bhagat Negi (IAS:1991:HP). Currently, Deka and Negi are on central deputation, serving as Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Special Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat (SR), respectively, while Ojha holds the position of Director General of Prisons.

Raj Kumar Goyal gets addl. charge of Secretary, Department of Law and Justice

Raj Kumar Goyal (IAS:1990:AGMUT), Secretary, Department of Border Management, Ministry of Home Affairs, has been given additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Law and Justice upon superannuation of SKG Rahate (IAS:1990:JH) on April 30. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (30.04.2024) the competent authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post to Raj Kumar Goyal till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan assumes charge as Vice Chief of Naval Staff

Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan on Wednesday took over as the Vice Chief of Naval Staff, filling a key role earlier held by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi who assumed charge as the country’s navy chief on Tuesday. Upon taking charge, the Flag Officer paid homage to Bravehearts that made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation by placing a floral wreath at the National War Memorial.

Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan on Wednesday took over as the Indian Navy’s vice chief, filling a key role earlier held by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi who assumed charge as the country’s navy chief on Tuesday.

Commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1987, Admiral Swaminathan specializes in Communication and Electronic Warfare. He is a graduate of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, the Joint Services Command and Staff College, Shrivenham, United Kingdom, the College of Naval Warfare, Karanja, and the United States Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, according to a press statement.

Admiral Swaminathan, a recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM), has held numerous significant operational, staff, and training roles throughout his career. He commanded missile vessels INS Vidyut and Vinash, the missile corvette INS Kulish, the guided missile destroyer INS Mysore, and the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.

Upon promotion to flag rank, he served as Chief Staff Officer (Training) at the headquarters of the Southern Naval Command in Kochi. He played a pivotal role in overseeing all training activities within the Navy and was instrumental in establishing the Indian Navy Safety Team, responsible for operational safety across all domains.

Delhi: Satish Golcha appointed interim DG Prisons of GNCTD

The Delhi government has appointed Satish Golcha (IPS:1992:AGMUT) as the interim DG Prisons, GNCTD, following the retirement of Sanjay Beniwal (IPS:1989:AGMUT) on April 30, 2024. Meanwhile, a proposal has been submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for approval to appoint a permanent DG Prisons, GNCTD.

Golcha currently holds the position of Special CP, Intelligence. Prior to this role, he served as Joint CP and DCP. Additionally, Satish Golcha has previously served as the DGP of Arunachal Pradesh.

In addition to Golcha’s appointment, two other senior IPS officers have been reassigned.

Tajendra Singh Luthra (IPS:1990:AGMUT), Special CP, Technology & Project Implementation Division, has been transferred and posted as Special CP, Technology & Project Implementation Division and Operations.

Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda (IPS:1997:AGMUT), Special CP, Operations (PCR & Communication) with additional charge of Additional charge of Perception Management & Media Cell Division, has been transferred and posted as Special CP, Intelligence with additional charge of Perception Management & Media Cell Division.
