RBI approves appointment of PK Sinha as Part-Time Chairman of ICICI Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of former Union Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha (Retd. IAS:1977:UP) as Part-Time Chairman of ICICI Bank for a period of three years, with effect from July 1, 2024.

Sinha will succeed former bureaucrat Girish Chandra Chaturvedi (Retd. IAS:1977:UP), who is set to retire on June 30, 2024.

Pradeep Kumar Sinha previously served as the Union Cabinet Secretary for over four years before moving to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). He retired from the PMO in March 2021.

Sinha has been a Government Nominee Director in several major Public Sector Undertakings, including ONGC, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, and GAIL. He was on the Board of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) for about seven years and similarly served on the Boards of BPCL and HPCL for about six years each.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (25.05.2024), the competent authority has approved assignment of additional charge of the post to Rajat Kumar Mishra from 26.05.2024 to 01.06.2024 during the period of absence on leave of Ms. Nivedita Shukla Verma (IAS:1991:UP).

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday appointed senior IPS officer Nilabh Kishore (IPS:1998:PB) as the Police Commissioner of Ludhiana. He is currently serving as ADGP, STF, Punjab, in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. Additionally, Rahul S (IPS:2008:PB), who is currently posted as DIG-cum-Director, Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, has been appointed as the Police Commissioner of Jalandhar.

The Union government on Wednesday (22.05.2024) appointed senior-most Judge of Madras High Court Justice R Mahadevan as its Acting Chief Justice as the incumbent Chief Justice Sanjay Gangapurwala is set to retire on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Justice R Mahadevan will perform duties of the office of the Chief Justice with effect from May 24.

Born on June 10, 1963, in Chennai, Justice Mahadevan completed his law degree from Madras Government Law College and enrolled as an advocate in 1989.

As a lawyer, he practiced in civil, criminal, and writ matters, specializing in indirect taxes, customs, and central excise for the past 25 years. He also served as an Additional Government Pleader (Taxes) for the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The Union government on Wednesday (22.05.2024) notified the appointment of Justice Sheel Nagu as acting Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. He will take over the charge of acting CJ after the retirement of incumbent Chief Justice Ravi Malimath on May 24.

Justice Malimath assumed charge as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court on July 1, 2021.

Justice Sheel Nagu, the senior-most judge in the MP High Court, enrolled as a member of the Bar on October 5, 1987, and began practicing civil and constitutional law in Jabalpur under the High Court. He was appointed as a Judge of the MP High Court on May 27, 2011, and became a Permanent Judge of the High Court on May 23, 2013.
