Suvarna Deshpande Dash appointed as CVO of ITI Bengaluru
Ms. Suvarna Deshpande Dash (IRPS:2002) has been appointed as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Indian Telephone Industries Ltd (ITI), Bengaluru for three years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (30.05.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Ms. Suvarna Deshpande Dash to the post for three years or until further orders.
Dharmendra Kumar Madan gets 10 months extension as CVO, PGCIL
Tenure of Dharmendra Kumar Madan (IOFS:1994) as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Delhi/NCR, has been extended for 10 months. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (30.05.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved to extend the tenure of Dharmendra Kumar Madan as CVO for a further period of 10 months beyond June 28, 2024 i,e, upto April 28, 2025 by excluding the period of 62nd NDC course by the officer or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Saurabh Garg appointed Secretary, MoSPI; Amit Yadav becomes Secretary D/o Social Justice
Saurabh Garg (IAS:1991:OR), Secretary of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, has been appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (30.05.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Saurabh Garg’s appointment to this post until his superannuation on July 31, 2024. After his retirement, he will continue in the role for an additional year on a contract basis or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Additionally, he will also discharge the functions as Secretary to National Statistical Commission.
Amit Yadav (IAS:1991:AGMUT) has been appointed as Secretary of Department of Social Justice & Empowerment. This shuffling of bureaucrats comes just three days after the DoPT issued an order on May 27, announcing that Yadav would take charge as Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment until Saurabh Garg’s superannuation in July and then take over as secretary.

Rakesh Kumar Meena’s post in DPIIT re-designated as Director
The post of Rakesh Kumar Meena (IRSS:2010) as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) (TSU) has been re-designated as Director. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on Thursday (30.05.2024), the competent authority approved the proposal of DPIIT to re-designate the position of Rakesh Kumar Meena at the Director level for a period upto 31.03.2025 (i.e. till TSU is function) which is further extendable upto admissible tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
It’s worth noting that Rakesh Kumar Meena began his central deputation tenure on July 14, 2023.
Sushil Kumar Singh appointed as Chairperson of Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla
Sushil Kumar Singh (IRSME:1993) has been appointed as Chairperson of Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (30.05.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Sushil Kumar Singh to the post for an overall tenure upto the date of his superannuation on 31.01.2027 or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He replaces SK Mehta (IFoS:1990:GJ).
Tushaba Dasharathao Shinde appointed Director in DARPG
Tushaba Dasharathao Shinde (IRPS:2008), who was recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Railway, has been selected for appointment as Director in the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), Delhi for five years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (30.05.2024), the central government has approved appointment of Tushaba Dasharathao Shinde to the post under central staffing scheme for five years or until further orders.
Ankita Singh appointed Deputy Secretary in Capacity Building Commission
Ankita Singh (IRS-IT:2011), who was recommended for central deputation by the Department of Revenue, has been selected for appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Capacity Building Commission under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for four years years. According to an order issued by the DoPT on Thursday (30.05.2024), the central government has approved appointment of Ankita Singh to the post under central staffing scheme for four years or until further orders.
ACC approves appointment of 7 officers to Joint Secretary level posts
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Thursday (30.05.2024) implemented a significant bureaucratic reshuffle at the Joint Secretary level, appointing 7 officers to different ministries and departments.
The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;
- Sachidanand Prasad (IP&TA&FS:1994) has been appointed as Secretary of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) under the Ministry of AYUSH. His tenure will extend until his superannuation on December 31, 2027. Consequently, the appointment of Binod Kumar (ICAS:1993) as Secretary of NCISM, which was issued on February 9, has been cancelled.
- Nitin Kumar Yadav (IAS:2000:HY) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce for a combined tenure of seven years upto September 12, 2028. Presently, he is serving as Home Secretary of UT administration, Chandigarh. He will replace M Balaji (IAS:2005:TN).
- Kamlesh Kumar Mishra (IRTS:2003) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Sixteenth Finance Commission under the Department of Economic Affairs for five years.
- Mukta Shekhar (IRAS:1994), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries, has been prematurely repatriated to her parent cadre. Pradeep Kumar (IP&TA&FS:1995) has been appointed to replace her as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries, with a tenure lasting until his superannuation on March 31, 2026.
- Shersha (CSS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs for a tenure upto the date of his superannuation on October31, 2025. He will replace Shahnawaz Alam (IP&TA&FS).
- Pankaj Yadav (IAS:2001:HY) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Rural Development for overall tenure of five years upto October 30, 2027. He will replace Karma Zimpa Bhutia (IFoS:1997:JH).
- Vinod Kumar Tripathi (IRSE-Civil:1995) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel for a tenure upto the date of his superannuation on December 31, 2027. He replaces Ms. Ruchika Chaudhry Govil (IRS-IT:1990).
