Punjab: IPS officer Paramraj Singh Umranangal posted as IG, Policy & Rules

The Punjab government on Monday (02.09.2024) posted IPS officer Paramraj Singh Umranangal (IPS:1995:PB) as Inspector General of Police, Policy and Rules, Chandigarh.

IPS Umrangal Singh, who remained under suspension for more than five years, was reinstated in the month of July by the state government following Punjab and Haryana High Court order.

He was suspended in February 2019 in connection with police firing on anti-sacrilege protesters at Kotkapura in the aftermath of the alleged sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in Bargari in 2015. His suspension was quashed by the court in February this year.

Earlier, when he was suspended, he took refuge in CAT. His petition was rejected by CAT. After this he approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Rahul S appointed DIG in NIA

Rahul S (IPS:2008:PB) has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in National Investigation Agency (NIA) for five years. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday (02.09.2024), the competent authority has approved the appointment of Mr. Rahul to post on deputation basis for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

WB: Former Chief Secretary BP Gopalika assigned new roles

The West Bengal government has appointed retired IAS officer and former Chief Secretary BP Gopalika (Retd. IAS:1989:WB) as the new Chairman of the West Bengal Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBIIDC) and Managing Director of the State Highway Development Corporation.

He will also hold the additional charge of Chief Adviser to Chief Minister on Project Monitoring for a period of three years.

The order was issued on 31 August the same date when he retired from the post of Chief Secretary, with Manoj Pant (IAS:1991:WB) succeeding him as top bureaucrat of the state.

Gopalika was originally scheduled to retire on May 31, but given three months extension until 31 August, 2024.

Pay and other terms and conditions of the appointment shall be determined in consultation with the Finance Department in due course.

Monika S Garg appointed Chairperson of UP IAS Association

Senior IAS officer Monika S Garg (IAS:1989:UP) has been appointed as new Chairperson of Uttar Pradesh IAS Association. Currently, she is serving as UP Agriculture Production Commissioner.

Chhattisgarh: Six IAS officers shifted

The Chhattisgarh government on Friday (30.08.2024) issued transfer and posting orders for six IAS officers.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

  1. Niharika Barik (IAS:1997:CG), Principal Secretary, Panchayat & Rural Development Department with additional charge of the posts of Development Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Electronics & Information Technology Department, has been additional charge of DG, Thakur Pyare Lal Institute of Panchayat And Rural Development.
  2. Dr. CR Prasanna (IAS:2006:CG), Secretary, Cooperative with additional charge of the posts of DG, Thakur Pyare Lal Institute of Panchayat And Rural Development and Secretary, Home & Jail Department, has been relieved of the additional charges he was holding.
  3. Him Shikhar Gupta (IAS:2007:CG), Secretary, Youth and Family Welfare, has been given additional charge of the post of Secretary, Home & Jail Department.
  4. Chandan Kumar Katara (IAS:2011:CG), Special Secretary, Finance Department with additional charge of the posts of Special Secretary, GAD and Special Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, has been given additional charge of Controller, Food & Drug Administration.
  5. Rajendra Kumar Katara (IAS:2013:CG), Director, State Council of Educational Research with additional charge of Mission Director, State Literacy Mission and Mission Director, National Higher Education Mission, has been given additional charge of MD, Text Book Corporation.
  6. Kuldeep Sharma (IAS:2014:CG), MD, Text Book Corporation with additional charge of the posts of Controller, Food & Drug Administration and Registrar, Cooperative Societies.

Telangana: 8 IAS officers and 1 IPS officer transferred

The Telangana government on Saturday (31.08.2024) issued transfer and posting orders for 8 IAS officers and one IPS officer.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

  1. K Surendra Mohan (IAS:2006:TG), Secretary, Mines & Geology, Industries & Commerce Department, has been placed in Full Additional Charge of post of Director, Mines & Geology.
  2. Tafseer Iqubal (IPS:2008:TG), Special Secretary, Minorities Welfare Department, has been placed in Full Additional Charge of the post of Secretary, Telangana Minorities Residential Education Institutions Society. Tafseer Iqubal will continue to hold Full Additional Charge of the post of DIG, ISW.
  3. T Vinay Krishna Reddy (IAS:2013:TG), Joint Secretary, HM & FW Department, has been placed in Full Additional Charge of the post of Commissioner, R&R and LA.

VL Kantha Rao gets addl. charge of Secretary, Ministry of Coal

VL Kantha Rao (IAS:1992:MP), currently serving as Secretary, Ministry of Mines, has been given additional charge of the post of Secretary, Ministry of Coal. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Sunday (01.09.2024), the competent authority has approved assignment of additional charge of post to Mr. Rao with immediate effect and till appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The post of Coal Secretary became vacant on August 30 when incumbent Amrit Lal Meena (IAS:1989:BH) was repatriated to his parent cadre of Bihar and subsequently appointed as Chief Secretary.

Rajasthan: Five IAS officers get additional responsibilities

The Rajasthan government on Saturday (31.08.2024) assigned additional responsibilities to five IAS officers.

The names of the officers and their postings as follows;

  1. Dr. Pratibha Singh (IAS:2007:RJ), Divisional Commissioner, Pali, has been given additional charge of Divisional Commissioner, Jodhpur.
  2. Kumari Pragya Kewalramani (IAS:2010:RJ), Commissioner, TAD, Udaipur, has been given additional charge of Divisional Commissioner, Udaipur.
  3. Bhagwati Prasad Kalal (IAS:2011:RJ), Director, Mines and Geology Department, Udaipur, has been given additional charge of Managing Director, Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Nigam Limited, Udaipur.
  4. Suchi Tyagi (IAS:2007:RJ), Cooperative Department, has been given additional charge of Secretary, Women & Child Development Department and Panchayat Raj (Women & Child Development).
  5. Vishwa Mohan Sharma (IAS:2010:RJ), Commissioner, Mid-Day Meal, has been given additional charge of Secretary, School Education Department and Panchayat Raj (Elementary Education) Department.

WB: Manoj Pant appointed new Chief Secretary

The West Bengal government on Saturday (31.08.2024) appointed senior IAS officer Manoj Pant (IAS:1991:WB) as Chief secretary of the state. He replaced Bhagwati Prasad Gopalika (IAS:1989:WB), whose tenure ended on Saturday.

The appointment order of Pant as Chief Secretary came less than 24 hours after he was handed over the responsibility of the Irrigation and Waterways Department. Earlier, he was the Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department.

Gopalika was scheduled to retire on May 31, got an extension of three months.

Additionally, Prabhat Kumar Mishra (IAS:1993:WB) will replace Pant in the Finance department. Earlier, he was Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation & Waterways Department with additional charge of posts of Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources Investigation and Development Department and Project Director, ADMI Project.

Dushyant Nariala (IAS:1993:WB), Principal Secretary, Disaster Management & Civil Defence Department, has been given additional charge of Principal Secretary, Irrigation and Waterways Department.

Furthermore, Roshni Sen (IAS:1993:WB), Additional Chief Secretary, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources and Fishing Harbour Department with additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), WBIDC, has been given additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources Investigation & Development Department and Project Director, ADMI Project ,
