Five Additional Judges of Madras HC appointed as Permanent Judges

The Union government on Friday (20.09.2024) notified the appointment of five Additional Judges of the Madras High Court as Permanent Judges of that High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.

These judges are ;

  1. Justice Lekshmana Chandra Victoria Gowri
  2. Justice Pillaipakkam Bahukutumbi Balaji
  3. Justice Kandhasami Kulandaivelu Ramakrishnan
  4. Justice Ramchandran Kalaimathi
  5. Justice K Govindarajan Thilakavadi

The Supreme Court Collegium had approved the proposal for appointing the five Additional Judges of Madras High Court as Permanent Judges of the Court vide notification dated 10th September, 2024.

Muktesh Kumar Pardeshi appointed next Ambassador of India to Turkiye

Senior diplomat Muktesh Kumar Pardeshi (IFS:1991) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Turkiye. Presently, he is serving as Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of External Affairs and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, ” Shri Muktesh Kumar Pardeshi (IFS:1991), presently Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Turkiye.”

“He is expected to take up the assignment shortly,” the statement added.

Gunjan Kumar Sinha selected as Director (Personnel), Eastern Coalfields Limited

Gunjan Kumar Sinha has been selected as Director (Personnel), Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on September 20, 2024. Presently, he is serving as General Manager, Coal India Limited.

He will be appointed to the post of Director (Personnel) after receiving vigilance clearances and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

The following 12 applicants were interviewed in the selection meeting:

188 IPS probationers pass out from SVPNPA in Hyderabad

Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy celebrated the passing out parade of IPS probationers belonging to the 76 RR batch. Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, who attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest, congratulated the probationers and praised the job police is doing to protect the citizens of this country and maintain law and order.

A total of 188 IPS probationers and 19 officers from countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Mauritius passed out during the Dikshant Parade. A large number of these probationers come from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. There are 58 women officers in this batch.

According to sources, the probationers were imparted training in almost all kinds of threats the country is facing today; from internal security to cyber-crimes and from drug trafficking to financial frauds and new-age threats in form of artificial intelligence.

These probationers will now be posted in districts for practical training in tackling challenges of varied nature.

Patil Salmantaj Jafertaj appointed as SP in BPR&D

Patil Salmantaj Jafertaj (IPS:2012:UP) has been appointed as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) for five years. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday (19.09.2024), the competent authority has approved the appointment of Mr. Jafertaj to the post on deputation basis for five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Currently, he is serving as DCP Traffic, Lucknow.

Kumar Tuhin appointed next Ambassador of India to Netherlands

Senior diplomat Kumar Tuhin (IFS: 1991) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Presently, he is serving as Director General, Indian Council for Cultural Relations and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, ” Shri Kumar Tuhin (IFS: 1991), presently Director General, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.”

“He is expected to take up the assignment shortly,” the statement added.

Tuhin will replace Reenat Sandhu (IFS:1989), who retired in June 2024.

Maharashtra: IPS Officer Nimit Goyal resigns from service

Bihar cadre IPS officer Shivdeep Wamanrao Lande (IPS:2006:BH) surprised many by announcing his resignation from the service on Thursday. On the same day, Maharashtra cadre IPS officer Nimit Goyal (IPS:2014:MH) also made waves by deciding to step down, citing personal reasons. Goyal expressed his desire to transition into the private sector, leaving many both within and outside the bureaucracy surprised by his decision.

Just two weeks earlier, Goyal had been moved from his position as DCP (Crime) in Nagpur to DCP in Mumbai. His resignation, submitted on July 8, is currently awaiting approval from the Director General of Police and a final decision from the state home department.

The last high-profile resignation in Maharashtra’s police force occurred in January 2014, when Mumbai Police Commissioner Satya Pal Singh sought voluntary retirement from the IPS to contest the Lok Sabha elections as a BJP candidate from Uttar Pradesh.

203 IPS officers to face action for skipping Foundation Course

About 203 IPS officers may face punitive action for their failure to join Special Foundation Course at Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana at
Hyderabad. The Centre has warned the states of strict action against 203 IPS officers from 2018 to 2022 batch who have not attended their
Foundation Course so far.

The Centre has written a letter to Chief Secretaries and DGPs reminding them of the communication sent by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) that a Special Foundation Course is to be conducted for backlog officers up to 2022 batch, but a total of 203 Direct Recruit IPS backlog officers are yet to undergo their Foundation Course.

The Centre has warned the states that disciplinary action would be initiated against the erring officers under the Indian Police Service (Probation) Rules, 1954, as it would be construed as willfully neglecting probationary studies and so will be treated as guilty of misconduct.

There are, in fact, a total 443 officers. Apart from 203 IPS officers, there are around 93 officers of other services and 147 officers of 2023 and 2024 batches.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Thursday (19.09.2024) approved empanelment of 16 officers from various services for holding Joint Secretary-equivalent rank posts in Government of India.

They are;

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) will bear a festive look as passing out parade for the IPS probationers will be organized on September 20. A total of 188 IPS probationers and 19 officers from countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Mauritius will be passing out during the Dikshant Parade. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai will be the chief guest.

These probationers, which includes 58 women officers, form the 76th batch of the IPS (Regular Recruits).

According to sources, the probationers were imparted training in almost all kinds of threats the country is facing today; from internal security to cyber- crimes and from drug trafficking to financial frauds and new threats in form of artificial intelligence.

These probationers will be posted in districts for practical training after which the nine-week-long second phase of their training will begin at the academy.
