High Court asks senior IAS to resign in MP

The bureaucratic circles in Madhya Pradesh are abuzz with excitement and fear after the High Court lambasted a senior IAS officer for dereliction and asked him to resign. The High Court condemned the attitude of senior IAS officer Sanjay Dubey (IAS:1993:MP) for not obeying its order passed more than six months back. The High Court remarked that such an officer should leave the service. Dubey is currently posted as an Additional Chief Secretary in the General Administration Department (GAD) and was earlier serving in the home department in the similar capacity.

The court had ordered the promotion of a police officer in March this year, but the officer is yet to be promoted. After being denied promotion despite the court order, police officer Vijay Punj moved the High Court by filing a contempt petition against Sanjay Dubey. While hearing the contempt petition, the HC asked Dubey if he could not implement its order during such a long time, he should resign from the service. Further, the court gave him one last opportunity to comply with the order.

The contempt petition is being heard by Justice Dwarka Dhish Bansal of the MP High Court. The court’s grave remark has sent shockwaves in the state bureaucracy. What invited the court’s wrath is the fact that the petitioner police officer is retiring from his service in this month.

Centre rolls back 2019 merger policy for recruitment of railway officers

Restructuring a Rail Bhawan

The government of India has finally announced the rollback of its 2019 decision to merge eight railway services into one Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS). The announcement of demerger was made on October 5, thus ending almost five years of confusion and practical difficulties faced in the recruitment of the railway officers.

Now the recruitment of the railway officers will be done through two different examinations – the Civil Services Examination (CSE) for non-technical posts and Engineering Services Examination (ESE) for technical posts.

The Centre had introduced the merger policy in 2019 for recruitments of the railway officers by which eight services were merged into a single civil service, the Indian Railway Management Service and the recruitments of officers for both technical and non-technical posts were being made only through the Civil Services Examination (CSE). But soon it was realized that the merger decision was ill-advised that only created confusion and difficulties in finding suitable manpower for technical posts. It led the Union Government to announce the rollback and restore the old system of recruitments through two separate examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
