ACC clears empanelment of 16 officers for Additional Secretary or equivalent-level posts in GoI

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, on Thursday (01.12.2023) cleared the empanelment of 16 officers to hold Additional Secretary/ Additional Secretary equivalent rank posts at the Centre.

Swapna Devireddy appointed as Deputy Secretary, D/o Drinking Water and Sanitation

Swapna Devireddy (IRS-IT:2010), proposed for central deputation by the Department of Revenue, has been designated for the position of Deputy Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Delhi, for four years. According to an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training on Friday (01.02.2023), the central government has sanctioned the appointment of Ms. Devireddy to the post under the central staffing scheme, effective for four years from the commencement of assuming the responsibilities or until subsequent directives, whichever takes precedence.

Anita Meena appointed as Director, MoHUA

Anita Meena (IRS-IT:2008), who was recommended for central deputation by the Department of Revenue, has been chosen to serve as Director in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Delhi, for five years. As per an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training on Friday (01.02.2023), the central government has given its nod for Ms. Meena’s appointment to the position for five years from the commencement of assuming the responsibilities or until subsequent directives, whichever comes first.

Mohamed Ashraf J S appointed as Deputy Secretary, DFS

Mohamed Ashraf J S (IA&AS:2014), who was recommended for central deputation by the Office of Comptroller & Auditor General of India, has been chosen for the position of Deputy Secretary in the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Delhi. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on Friday (01.02.2023), the central government has approved Mr. Ashraf’s appointment to the post under the central staffing scheme. This appointment is valid for five years from the date of assuming charge of the post or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier.

Utpal Singh gets one year extension as LS Secretary General

Utpal Kumar Singh (IAS:1986:UK), the Secretary General of Lok Sabha, has been granted a further extension in tenure for one year, as per an official order issued on Thursday. Singh, who assumed office on December 1, 2020, was initially granted a two-year extension on November 30, 2021.

The order states, “The Speaker is pleased to extend the tenure of Shri Utpal Kumar Singh, IAS (retd), as Secretary General, Lok Sabha and Lok Sabha Secretariat…in the rank and status of Cabinet Secretary on the existing terms and conditions for a period of one year with effect from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024.”

Having retired as the chief secretary of Uttarakhand on July 31, 2020, Singh took charge as Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat on September 1, 2020. He assumed the position of Lok Sabha Secretary General on December 1, 2020, following the superannuation of the then incumbent Snehlata Shrivastav (IAS:1982:MP).

Virendra Kumar Yadav repatriated to parent cadre

Virendra Kumar Yadav (IRSEE:2011), serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (30.11.2023), the competent authority has approved the Ministry of Heavy Industries’ proposal to repatriate Mr. Yadav to his parent cadre on personal grounds, with the provision of extended cooling off.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (30.11.2023), the central government has granted approval for Mr. Nazeem’s appointment to the post under the central staffing scheme. His tenure will last for four years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier.
