Rajni Kant Misra appointed as SSB Chief

Rajni Kanth Misra, a senior IPS officer was on Monday appointed director general of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

He will replace Ms Archana Ramasundaram, who will retire on September 30, 2017. She is a 1980 IPS officer of T.N Cadre.

Misra has been appointed director general of the SSB till the date of his superannuation, ie, August 31, 2019, the DoPT order said.

Misra, a 1984 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is at present additional director general in the Border Security Force (BSF).

YC Modi to succeed Sharad Kumar as NIA Chief

Y C Modi has been named as the new Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA). He’ll take over from Sharad Kumar, whose terms as the NIA chief ends in October 18, 2017.

Modi was a part of a Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) that probed three most important cases involving the post-Godhra riots: Gulberg Society, Naroda Patiya and Naroda Gam.

Modi is a 1984 batch IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre. He has also been the Additional Director General of Police in Shillong.

Modi is at present additional director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

 

 

 

 

 

Government announces empanelment of 26 IAS as Joint Secretary

The central government announced empanelment of 26 senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials belonging to 2000 batch for their appointments as Joint Secretary  in the government of India.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued the empanelment list on September 13.

MP government terminates woman IAS officer over corruption

The Madhya Pradesh government has terminated the services of a woman IAS officer, Shashi Karnawat, following her conviction in a corruption case.

Action against Shashi Karnawat, who was placed under suspension in October 2013, was taken under the provisions of the All India Service (Discipline and Appeals) Rules, 1969.

The services of Karnawat, a 1999-batch IAS officer, have been terminated in agreement with the advice of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and orders of the Government of India, a Public Relations Department official said.

Karnawat was deputy secretary in the youth and sports welfare department prior to her suspension.

She was a state administrative services (SAS) officer before being promoted to the IAS in 1999.
